This is another Week of The MONTH of December 2022, and we are presenting our Top Artists of the Week Series 16 for your entertainment and fun. There are lessons to learn from each other as you look and listen to one another’s tracks. The selections are our opinion. All artists are generous and super experts in their calling.
Here is how we select top artists.
Indeed, there are many exciting things that my job involves listening to live concerts by solo artists and ensembles whom we might showcase on a weekly series. You can learn much from watching their video or audio recording, but only some things. A particular musician or ensemble is destined for something other than the priority list.
In recent weeks we have found ourselves with the opportunity to hear quite a few concerts, live bands, and recorded works from different artists. It got us thinking about what criteria we will rank and prioritize for each artist. We have narrowed it down to 3 areas: technique, interest (substance), and communication.
Technical ability is the least important because there’s such a high proficiency among professional soloists and ensembles. Indeed, it’s probably fair to say that if you ever get the impression at a concert that a piece of music is challenging and pushing the performer(s) to their limit, then it’s probably more a reflection on the limitations of the artist than the technical problems of a piece of music. Great performances usually transcend technical difficulties.
The more critical question is whether a performance is engaging, meaning does it capture people’s attention and unlocks their imagination? That comes down to choices a musician makes around musical colors and textures, variation, consistency of approach, creating tension, the overall shape of a piece, tastefulness, and context. Much of this is subjective, which is why it’s okay, indeed healthy, for people to disagree after a video, or live stage watch – whether they liked it or not.
Thirdly, there’s the issue of communication. Singers maybe have the advantage of words to articulate, but instrumental music is a language, and the live concert experience is about communicating. Unlike a recording, an artist or ensemble on stage with a live audience has to acknowledge the audience is there and perform for them.
There are many, many musicians and ensembles across the world who deliver at the highest level. Our lives are more enriched by having exposure to them. The most memorable concerts we have attended are those at which that communication has been solid and convincing.

CIAN is an American-based Folk/Acoustic – Pop – R&B/Soul artist. CIAN, an independent Hip Hop artist and producer, was born in Bogota.
CIAN, a music Artist/ Producer/ Engineer from Ireland, brings class and substance into a struggling hip-hop genre and shares a new track, “Far From Home.” Out of his love for music production grew the artist CIAN.
CIAN, half Colombian half American. He worked both cultures to create a fresh chill pop R&B. He was born in Bogota, Colombia but moved shortly after to Florida, USA, where they would stay for most of his life until he returned to Bogota. He grew up listening to Justin Timberlake, Usher, and Michael Jackson. Nowadays, he identifies with The Weeknd, Zayn, Drake, Khalid, Majid Jordan, Justin Bieber, and Bazzi.

IDLC’s real name is Ethan, but IDLC has been his stage name. IDLC is a new artist who just began taking music seriously as a potential career. His music started as an inside joke with a few friends but has evolved into something serious. Ethan wrote IDLC’s first song for laughter, but now he writes them seriously.
IDLC consists of Ethan Scott, the founder, and everyman of the name. IDLC has released many songs since he began; however, “Confused” is different. All past works as a joke for laughs. “Lights” is taking a serious turn. IDLC has reached over 60 subscribers on youtube by only word of mouth. That is what you get from IDLC on his new song “Confused.”

Tone is a recording artist based in the USA. Tone is a young indie, Pop soul, Rap in English, R&B, Soul, and Urban pop R&B artist. Tone is a USA-based Hip-hop/Rap, Chill / Lo-fi, Grime, Rap in English, and R&B artist.
Tone’s latest track, “Wrap Up,” is the opening song to his project; he wants to get feedback on the significance of the track and join a playlist! He worked very hard, and he’s excited to continue this journey.

B. Elise is an American artist based in New York City. B. Elise has advanced her music career to a height ever since her first appearance in the music industry. She was a regularly featured artist on XXL, BET, The Hype magazine, and more.
B. Elise obtained the 2022 NYC Women’s Fund Grant and only 89 out of 1,193 applications in the city. B.Elise has recently become a 2x Grant recipient. Along with the 2021 NYC City Artist Corp Grant. Senator Leroy Comrie has also recognized her for her participation and production efforts in the city for 2019 and 2020.
B. Elise, this is a heartbreak-themed single, as one can tell from the title. I’m excited to present my new single, “Heartbreak Hotel,” Being from NYC, I had to embrace the sound of the time. However, me being me, I couldn’t take the typical approach. HeartBreak mixed with the contemporary sounds of the big apple, I hope to spark another way to utilize this hypnotic sound coming from my city, along with igniting more talents to verify their approach to drill music.

Michael O. comes from beginnings as vibrant and eclectic as his music. Born on January 8th, 1990, in New York City before being raised in Portland, Maine, Michael came up with a fusion of American, African American, and Nigerian cultures. Today, this upbringing informs his multifaceted, accessible music.
Michael O. has performed worldwide, including at sold-out shows at Merill Auditorium, The Lincoln Center, Caesar’s Palace, and for President Obama at the White House. In 2019, he was the first Nigerian to perform solo at Carnegie Hall and won the Performance Arts Fellow by the Maine Arts Commission in 2020. Michael O.’s latest single, “Japa,” will be released in November 2022 and is co-produced by Harvey Mason Jr, the CEO of the Recording Academy.

Co-Produced by Harvey Mason Jr., the CEO of the Academy (Grammy Awards), “JAPA” is the story of survival and a tale of the foundation and creation of America. It is the lead single on Michael O.‘s upcoming EP, which definitely will be made public in 2023.

Jus.Chase is a Camden, New Jersey producer/Rapper/songwriter who grew up in various music genres; a dad and a grandmother both performers, he never knew that becoming an artist was his future. His influence in production is known well, like Kanye West, Timbaland, Pharrell Williams, and JustBlaze.
Jus.Chase is hoping to take this song – “I Found” places, and I want to reach as many people as it can. Hands down, it’s relatable to those guys that find it hard to approach and find women at times but somehow get the courage to do so. The struggles of an introvert and single life. Besides that, the beat is a feel-good song, with dances and good energy to vibe.
Jus.Chase’s album consists of songs like “Calm Down,” His outlet to explain what music is to him. “Defiant” Overcoming what the world has thrown at him, he still perseveres, and “If Only” is the struggle with anxiety and depression that he hides within himself. Jus.Chase continued to show his talents to give direction to those who view the world in a not-so-pretty light and inspire those to live life and be creative, ambitious, bold, and expressive.
