Maverick Christ Gets Introspective On Latest Release “Moving Lightspeed”

Maverick Christ guides us through the matrix on “Moving Lightspeed”.

Maverick Christ may be a new name for you, but he’s no newcomer to Hip-Hop. The Manhattan, New York born artist has been releasing music for over seven years now. It had been close to two years since we heard from him before dropping his latest single “Moving Lightspeed”. How could someone so passionate about artistry and music disappear for almost two years?

We learned that Maverick Christ was doing a ton of work behind the scenes, putting in the hours to lay down the foundation for the rest of his career. Now with his own high quality apparel brand established called Prosper More and a brand new professional home studio, Maverick Christ is now ready to get back to releasing music and creating “infinite vibes” as he puts it. “Moving Lightspeed” is the first release for this new chapter in his career, and we’re excited to get in to it.

The Meaning Behind “Moving Lightspeed”

Maverick Christ is intentional in everything that he does. He prioritizes substance in his music and wants to leave the listener with something thought provoking to take with them in their lives.

“Moving Lightspeed” is about the fast paced environment that is the world today. We are overloaded with news and information 24 hours a day. Maverick Christ wants you to slow down and focus on the learning and growth that is necessary for your own goals. In addition, staying conscious of how much is really out of our control may lead you to what really matters. These are some of the major themes in the artist’s latest release, as Maverick Christ raps over a dreamy and ambient mid-tempo instrumental.

Currently based in Atlanta, the “Moving Lightspeed” artist brings multiple flows packed with lyricism and depth on his latest release. We counted at least five different cadences/pockets, and maybe three different voices used for his delivery. The intentional variation reminds us a bit of Kendrick Lamar! Make sure you’re listening to the lyrics on “Moving Lightspeed” or you will definitely miss a gem.

Maverick Christ Discusses His Clothing Line, New Music, Home Studio, &  More

Since we hadn’t connected with Maverick Christ in awhile, we had to catch up and see what he’s been up to. Check out what he had to say below. Follow the rising artist on Instagram to keep up with his journey.

Q: It’s been a while since your last release! About 20 months to be exact. What have you been up to?

Maverick Christ: I’ve been building the infrastructure and brand behind the scenes. I now have the online store prospermorelifestyle.com that sells all of my apparel and accessories made by the Prosper More brand. I’ve also been working on new music, built my own professional studio, and just getting everything together so we can release infinite vibes.

______

Q: What is your relationship with music today?

Maverick Christ: My relationship with music is stronger than it’s ever been because I now have the ability to release as much high quality music as I want without the constraints of working with people that can hinder your consistency.

______

Q: Do you consider yourself a wordsmith?

Maverick Christ: Definitely a wordsmith, I want to make sure you get something meaningful out of what I’m saying in my music and I like to do it in a straightforward but clever way that’s true to me. I came from listening to lyrics and the greats so lyrics and putting words together in a meaningful way will always be a part of my sound.

______

Q: Why is lyricism so important to you?

Maverick Christ: Lyricism is important to me because I believe your music should say something and inspire in some sort of way. There’s so much music out that literally is just a beat and saying the dumbest crap repetitively that brings no value to the listeners. So lyricism is more than just lyrics to me, but also what they mean and how it is going to affect the listener.

______

Q: Where are you from originally, and how did you get the name Maverick Christ?

Maverick Christ: I’m originally from Manhattan, New York. East Harlem area to be specific but moved to Atlanta, Ga when I was younger about 10 years old and been rocking there for the time being lol. Maverick Christ came from me doing things differently and not following the path of others but carving my own path which is what Maverick means and Christ is a part of Jesus Christ as I am spiritual and God’s Child. So you put that together and you got Maverick Christ.

______

Q: What are some of your goals in music this year?

Maverick Christ: My goals in music this year is just to put out great high quality vibes that reach all over the world. Definitely expanding my brand and audience and letting people know Maverick Christ is here and about to change the game.

Maverick Christ: My sound would be described as wavy and vibey with great lyrics and meaningful to the point that you can get special insight just from listening.

______

Q: Tell us a bit about the creation process of your latest single “Moving Lightspeed”?

Maverick Christ: Moving Lightspeed was made as just an introspective song that visualizes the world around us. It slows you down for a second and lets you think about what you need to do and learn to keep moving at our greatest level in this fast paced life we all have.

______

Q: What do you want fans to take away from the song?

Maverick Christ: That the world around us is volatile and things are unexpected. There is so much to do and see and learn that will take us a lifetime. So slow down and organize yourself and think about what you want to accomplish. Block out the negative aspects of the things around you. Keep learning and growing.

______

Q: You’re getting a lot of great feedback on this song so far. What’s next?

Maverick Christ: The next thing is to keep building. I have so much that people haven’t seen or heard yet and I’m just getting started. I’ll be here forever even after I’m gone in physical form, that’s the plan… legacy.
