Lul Cameo delivers a dreamy, melancholic sound on his alternative hip-hop track “Paradise”.

Lul Cameo is a multi-talented rapper, singer, videographer, and editor based out of Aurora. Moody and melodic, “Paradise” tells the story of a bad breakup. Lyrically and musically, listeners are propelled into a pensive story of love and heartache. Cameo’s silvery, evocative vocals are nicely complemented by muted samples that dance along a wistful sounding guitar and heavy-hitting drums. “Paradise” moves listeners through a place inspired only by Lul Cameo’s truth.

Before anything else, Cameo is a poet.

“I write poetry firsthand”, Cameo tells me, “and I transfer most poems or stories into songs”. Like “Paradise”, many of Lul Cameo’s other poems and tracks draw inspiration from stories and experiences he has lived through. Filmed by @shotbyperpetual, the “Paradise” music video portrays the lone Cameo telling his story firsthand.

“I write when I’m down or have the energy”, he continues.

“My songs are like releasing to a therapist with a subtle rhyme scheme”; Cameo immerses himself into his music as both a creative and mental outlet, utilizing his poetry as a means of artistic exploration and personal reflection. Cameo’s raw, expressive songwriting exemplifies this, and “Paradise” is just one example.

What’s Next For Cameo?

Lul Cameo’s musical expression incorporates elements from genres like hip-hop, rap, trap, and alternative, and he has plans to experiment with ambitious new sounds the more he grows as an artist. “Paradise” is only a mere taste for fans of what’s to come in 2022.

Cameo is planning on dropping an album soon titled, “The Truth They Never Told”. The album will feature more of a classic vibe, flaunting 80’s style love and rap samples. Inevitably, Lul Cameo’s fan base will grow not only among hip-hop and rap fans, but a more diverse range of listeners who can’t help but take notice of the young artist’s entrancing sound.
