Emerging Maryland Artist Jordyn Tareaz Is So Good!

Watch a live performance of Jordyn Tareaz’ debut single “So Good (On My Own)”

Jordyn Tareaz is a super talented singer, songwriter, and musician from Maryland. While her name may be new to you, Jordyn has already been making waves in the East Coast music scene for some time now. Growing up in New York, Jordyn Tareaz began playing the piano at 3, started writing original music at 8, and signed to a management agency at only 9. Since then, she’s been challenging herself to improve all aspects of her artistry. Today, she can cover any song from Paramore to Amy Winehouse. She can make you cry with emotional ballads or dance with upbeat blends of R&B and Pop. Additionally, you’ll quickly fall in love with her 4-octave vocal range and natural charisma during on stage performances. Not to mention, she can probably break down her production better than most producers you know. Are you excited yet?

Jordyn’s debut single So Good (On My Own) was released in January of 2022. The Maryland songstress lays powerful vocals over an inspiring chord progression. The lyrics tell a coming-of-age story highlighting self-worth and independence. During the two minute and 24 second track, Jordyn goes from a shell of herself that couldn’t move on from a toxic relationship, to a confident woman that is so good on her own. Moreover, the melodies on this track will be in your head all week (especially the chorus). Jordyn already let us know that her vocal delivery is inspired by Beyoncé and Rihanna. While those are big shoes to fill, Tareaz definitely brought it. Play this song around anybody to shock them with Jordyn’s impressive riffs and runs. Eavesdroppers and close by listeners will sharply ask “Who is this!?” And you can tell them “Jordyn Tareaz from Maryland, she’s next up!”

In February, the emerging artist found herself on stage at Songbyrd Music House in Washington, DC. Jordyn opened for Warner Music Group artist Maude Latour, another strong, versatile vocalist who has been described as a cross between Lorde and Olivia Rodrigo. Comment below if you were able to catch Jordyn’s performance! We were beyond excited to bring this submission to you all. Ms. Tareaz will be a household name before we know it and the NFM Team is honored to be apart of her journey. Check out the interview below to learn more about Jordyn. Who are some of your biggest musical influences of all time?

Jordyn Tareaz “In terms of my vocal delivery, Beyonce and Rihanna. I love the rawness in their voice. They are never afraid to show emotion when they sing. For songwriting, Mariah Carey and Victoria Monet. They know how to make a catchy melody, that is something that I always make a point to do in my music. I am super melody driven. They also always have really witty lyrics, and they love to use double entendres and are really smart lyricists. In terms of production Kanye, I love the use of sampling in music, and that is something that I plan to incorporate in future releases. Also as you can tell from my debut track “So Good (On my Own)” I love the use of 808s and trap type drums.”

What makes you different from other artists?

Jordyn Tareaz “As cliche as it may sound I’m unpredictable. I’m not afraid to be out of the box in any aspect of my artistry. I can go from doing a Paramore cover to an Amy Winehouse cover then to singing my own trap rnb pop song in a single set (I actually have done this a ton). I’m inspired by so much in my life that I’m not afraid to take something that I love and put my own spin on it.”

Wat are you looking forward to most in your career?

Jordyn Tareaz “Live shows duh. I’m a performer, I love to get up on stage and deliver. My most recent show was opening for Warner Music artist Maude Latour. I can’t wait to get out in front of more crowds soon and headline my own tour, headline festivals, do the Super Bowl…. Imma do it alll. Like I said early I love creating a connection with the audience. When you’re at a Jordyn Tareaz show, I strive to make everyone in the venue feel special. It makes me so happy to see all the love and excitement in the audience.”

Tell us about your submitted release?

Jordyn Tareaz “So Good (On My Own) is the debut track of rnb and pop artist Jordyn Tareaz. The upbeat, unapologetic anthem fuses catchy melodies and powerful lyricism over delicate strings with hard-hitting drums and 808s. Portrayed through the title, the song is all about leaving behind what doesn’t serve you and becoming your best, independent self. Jordyn co wrote and co produced the song. She has new music on the way!”

What’s the main thing you want fans to take away?

Jordyn Tareaz “I love to think of my songs as little stories for my life experiences. “So Good (On My Own)” in particular talks about finding the confidence to walk away from toxic relationships. That was a journey that I was on myself when I wrote it. The first verse talks about the toxic relationship, the pre talks about contemplating moving away from the toxic person, the hook is realizing your worth, and then the second verse is about all the things you do with your new found confidence. This is something that everyone has to go through at some point in their life with a once trusted relationship.”
