Faded Flex Is Next Up Out Of Baltimore

Is Faded Flex the next hit maker out of the DMV?

Faded Flex from Baltimore, Maryland has all the necessary tools a budding star should possess. He combines a larger than life personality with the talent and passion to match. Influenced by all time greats like Lil Wayne and 50 Cent, we can tell out of the gate that Flex takes his craft seriously. With two singles in the books, we believe Faded Flex has the sound and lyricism to succeed in today’s Hip-Hop scene.

One thing this DMV artist does not overlook is his visuals. While his debut single ‘John Hopkins’ can stand alone as a hard hitting trap single full of witty punchlines, the video definitely breathes more life in to the track. If Flex’s energy and persona didn’t math the up-tempo nature of ‘John Hopkins’, maybe it wouldn’t hit as hard. Luckily, we won’t need to worry about that. Flex is lit! Him and his crew are here to party.

It is very rare for an artist to be able to make fun party records without leaving lyrics behind. Punchlines like “got this h** on lock but she will never get a house key” let us know that Flex’s pen is nothing to look down at. It’s only a matter of time before he unleashed the double and triple entendres to gain the respect of even the most reserved hip-hop purists.

So what’s next? We know Faded Flex has the characteristics of someone people will gravitate to. Fans will love Flex’s music and personality. We believe it’s important for this upcoming artist to continue to showcase his versatility. He can do this by always challenging himself musically and lyrically, using every opportunity in the booth as a chance to prove somebody else wrong. Faded Flex has the opportunity to combine the best traits from the East Coast (lyricism and punchlines) with the best traits from some of our favorite southern artists (catchy flows, cadences, and crazy beat selection). At times, Flex’s delivery on ‘John Hopkins’ reminded us a bit of the late Young Dolph or Key Glock out of Memphis.

Faded Flex recently released his next single titled “Crypto” featuring Earl from Yonder. Check out the video above and let us know what you think.

Hear From The Artist

We caught up with the Baltimore native to learn more about his career thus far and goals for the future. Check out what he had to say below, and be sure to follow him on Instagram to keep up with his journey.

When did you start making music?

Faded Flex: I started making music in 2012 when I was 15. It began as an extension of my love for writing poetry and my passion for cyphering with friends.

What made you want to become an artist?

Faded Flex: The love of the lyric writing process. Trying to figure out what I’m gonna say next, and how I’m gonna make it clever is so much fun to me!

Is your music about lyrics or a feeling/vibe?

Faded Flex: I’d say both, but more about the lyrics. I grew up on an era of music where you had to say something for it to have impact, so a lot of my work reflects that. I definitely have a few songs that are more about vibing out too.

How would you describe your sound?

Faded Flex: Very direct and no nonsense. I like to get straight to the point without a lot of gimmicks. I have a lot of stuff to say and I want the listener to pay attention right from the first bar.

Who are some of your biggest musical influences all time?

Faded Flex: Lil Wayne the G.O.A.T. is my biggest influence. I also really love 50 Cent, Logic and Famous Dex. I try to incorporate a little of each of their styles to make my own unique sound.

What are you looking forward to most in your career?

Faded Flex: I’m looking forward to continue doing what I love, and collaborating with more of my friends. There’s a lot of talented artists in Baltimore that deserve recognition. Hopefully we can make something happen if we come together and cook up.
