Detroit R&B artist Champagne brings love and romance on new album ‘1800 Pagne’.

Champagne is a multi-talented dancer and R&B artist based out of Detroit, Michigan. We first learned about the emerging star from the Motor City after coming across a previous project titled ‘Yours Truly‘. Champagne described that project as an experiment, stepping in to his new sound and mulling over concepts that fans would end up enjoying. What stood out to the New Fire Music team was Champagne’s ability to get vulnerable in his music and open up about real life on his songs. Champagne talked everything from heartbreak to finding new love in our exclusive interview with the budding Detroit R&B artist. With new found confidence, Champagne released his next installment 1800 Pagne only seven months later.

Furthermore, when we asked the Motor City artist why he went by the name Champagne, he said “the reason why I call myself Champagne is because when you listen to my music, you’ll either feel love or happiness. Either way it’s a celebration.” The more we listen to his music, the more that makes sense. When Champagne isn’t singing about love or romance, he’s making party records that you can pop bottles to. But for the most part, this project is for the lovers. Champagne writes lyrics that any woman would love to hear about them (your girlfriend may get her next Instagram caption from this project to be honest). While the Detroit R&B artist does spend a great deal of the project showing appreciation and uplifting his partner, he gets real on a few songs highlighting toxic behaviors that lead to repetitive arguments.

Our Favorite Tracks From ‘1800 Pagne’

Champagne remains real and vulnerable on every track, and that’s what we love him for. We highlighted a few of our favorites from the album below. Tap in and let us know what you think.

Champagne kicks it off with an album titled track 1800Pagne. We thought this was a great way to set the tone for his project. “1-800-Pagne, call me when it rains“. The Detroit R&B artist is here to take your pain away. Give him a dial whenever you’re going through it. This track has an interlude feel. Champagne’s natural melody fits well and should make you want to keep listening to the project.

Moving on, Champagne gets more sensual on Break You Off. You could imagine what this song is about. This is a great song to cut on when you’re with your significant other. The Detroit R&B artist captures the right vibe without getting too explicit (give or take a few lines). He fantasizes about the most intimate moments with his lover over an ambient instrumental. This song is R&B to the core, and that’s why we had to highlight it.

Whoa is the song we were waiting for from Champagne. Just when you thought 1800 Pagne was a bit on the slow tempo side, Whoa comes on crazy.  This song probably has the most mainstream appeal on the entire project. The beat selection was on point, perfect for the pregame or party itself. Throw this one on Friday night right before you go out. Shoutout to NMS N1ved with the feature! His melodies and flows rounded out this song perfectly. Champagne got away from his natural cadence and we really enjoyed it.

Lastly, we had to highlight was Oh You Shawty. Once again, what stood out first was the beat selection. The instrumental gives you an early 2000’s to 2010 R&B feel. It has enough hip-hop elements to be a great hybrid track for any songs. This one will make you dance. We also got some bars from Champagne the rapper. It was nice to be reminded of his versatility. We don’t have to say too much here. Cut this song on and let us know what you think!

Wrapping up ‘1800 Pagne’

Ultimately, we enjoyed the latest project from Champagne. This Detroit R&B artist has a ton of potential. If we had to rate it, it would probably be somewhere around a 6.5/10. We already know that Champagne can make good songs, but we do feel like there is a decent amount of room for growth. First thing being Champagne’s flow and cadence.

If you listen to enough of his music, you may notice that the Motor City artist tends to fall back on a familiar flow or cadence throughout his music (quite reminiciscnt of Dej Loaf’s ‘Try Me‘). When Champagne left his familiar melody, we got songs like ‘Whoa’ which is probably our favorite on the project. We understand that artists need to stick to a sound in order to create one, but at the very least Champagne can add addental  layers of vocal harmonies to add depth and variation to his performance.

If you want to support Champagne along his journey, follow him on Instagram and stream his latest single titled ‘Triggered’ just released February 11th.
