Adaku Live  My name is Adaku. I am a Canadian female music producer in my 20’s, currently residing in New York City. I decided to learn to mix for friends at local house parties two years ago in law school when specializing in intellectual property law. During that time, my work quickly became beloved by venues, and my ‘career’ was launched by word of mouth as I had always intended it, despite being encouraged to post my work online.  After booking shows here in the states, back home in Toronto, Canada, and most recently in Accra, Ghana, I took a break. I now have begun mixing again, putting a new spin on mixes, allowing myself to push the brim creatively and experimentally every morning. I have been creating 5-10 minute live mixes influenced by recently explored notions of nostalgia, memory, and mood. These mixes are short, fun, journey filled, and should ultimately leave the listener feeling good inside, excited and/or intrigued. My musical influences are rooted in rock, various types of house, jazz, blues, uk bassline, afrobeat, funk, and disco music. I have been sharing my work these past couple weeks and the responses have been so positive that I decided I wanted to share it with a broader audience.

*To listen to the entire mix in length and to fully understand the feel, it is best to listen on speakers*
