Young Bail – ‘Truly Yours’ (Review)

Today, we will be speaking about Young Bail, a rapper who is avidly sought after in the music game due to his straightforward bars, laid-back cadence, and signature raspy voice. Respectively, he’s the only musician out there who isn’t afraid to tap into his feelings, which is more of a reason to get in tune with Young Bail’s discography.

Young Bail’s latest album, Truly Yours, dives inside of his mental state. At the same token, the 9-track effort allows Young Bail to open up about how certain situations affected him. He reflects on severed relationships, his lowest moments, and having deep feelings for a special lady. He also speaks about his effortless grind and come up. The album contains a myriad of sounds, mostly taking influence from hip-hop and R&B. All-in-all, expect to find at least one track that resonates with you. Three songs that you should stream are “Truly Yours,” “Everytime,” and “Nuclear (feat. Porta Rich).” Another notable mention is “Better Dayz (feat. Dre Skuffs and Nyticka Hemingway).” The album dropped earlier this year.

Yours Truly” is a piano-led boom-bap offering that finds the rapper unveiling how a death in the family has affected him. He speaks about missing his loved one dearly and his initial reaction when hearing the news. He also talks about what he wished he had done when they were alive. But, he knows deep down that they’re in a better place looking after him. In short, he concludes that “as time moves on, your life will continue.”

He raps, “Now I’m sitting here lifeless on the phone getting the message/You took your last breath. In my mind, I’m going through it/Holdin’ my composure because now I’m used to it.”

“Everytime” sees Young Bail throwing his hands up in the air because he’s fed up with someone’s way. He raps,

I had to bounce, move away cause there was something missing/It’s like friendship sometimes, we gotta break apart.

As the song continues, he explains why he’s ultimately done with this person. If they don’t want his help, he’s going to stop trying.

Tried to help you many times, but who’s more choosy? The love lost or the love losing, you’ll always be a nuisance,” he delivers.

He also explains why he doesn’t let everyone into his circle, saying, “Niggas quick to backstab you without the blade and such/That’s why I move by my lonely, shit really tough.” Moreover, Young Bail says that once someone sees you doing good, they want to switch up because they’re envious of your success.

Sonically, “Everytime” uses an ambient R&B beat with rich, high-pitched harmonies.

“Nuclear (feat. Porta Rich)” finds Young Bail rapping about his money-oriented mind state and how no distractions will get in the way. In one line, he spits, “Niggas flabbergasted always asking ‘Bail how?’ The media be writing bout me, said they love my style/Focused on my grind, tryna get it. Stumble off the pivot.” He finishes off with some brutally honest words of wisdom and what he learned growing up.

Deeper into the song, the “Problem” lyricist calls out clout chasers for their unwillingness to put in a hard day’s work. The song’s feature, Porta Richmatches his energy, making sure the cadence is in-your-face. In his verse, he details how he doesn’t play when it comes to his money, before listing the accomplishments he’s garnered thus far.

He spits, “I keep the four-fifth by, cause I don’t let shit slide.” Towards the end, Rich assures that the two will sell out arenas in due time. The Automatik-produced beat slightly draws from G-Unit’s musical styling. It carries enough boom to get anyone’s heart racing.
