This is another Week of the MONTH of November 2022, we are presenting our Top Artists of the Week Series 13 for your entertainment and fun. There are lessons to learn from each other as you look and listen to one another’s tracks. The selections are simply our opinion. All artists are great and super professionals in their calling.
How we select top artists.
Indeed, there are many interesting things that my job involves listening to live concerts by solo artists and ensembles whom we might showcase on a weekly series. You can learn a lot from watching their video or audio recording of course, but not everything. In fact, the most important thing you can learn from these commercial or demo recordings is that a particular musician or ensemble is probably not destined for the priority list.
In recent weeks we have found ourselves with the opportunity to hear quite a few concerts, live bands, and recorded works from different artists. It got us thinking about what criteria are we going to rank and prioritize each artist. We have narrowed it down to 3 areas: technique, interest (substance), and communication.
Technical ability is probably the least important, simply because there’s such a high level of proficiency among professional soloists and ensembles these days. Indeed, it’s probably fair to say that if you ever get the impression at a concert that a piece of music is really difficult and pushing the performer(s) to their limit, then it’s probably more a reflection on the limitations of the artist than the technical problems of a piece of music. Great performances usually transcend technical difficulties.
So, the more important question is whether a performance is interesting, meaning does it capture people’s attention, and unlocks their imagination? That comes down to choices a musician makes around musical colors and textures, variation, consistency of approach, creating tension, the overall shape of a piece, tastefulness, and context. Much of this is subjective, which is why it’s okay, indeed healthy, for people to disagree after a video, or live stage watch – whether they liked it or not.
Thirdly, there’s the issue of communication. Unlike a recording, an artist or ensemble on stage with a live audience has to acknowledge the audience is there and perform for them. Singers maybe have the advantage of words to articulate, but instrumental music is a language too, and the live concert experience is about communicating.
The most memorable concerts we have attended are those at which that communication has been strong and convincing. There are many, many musicians and ensembles across the world who deliver at the highest level. Our lives are more enriched by having exposure to them.

Cashflowbj – Demontime

For hip-hop and trap artist, CASHFLOW Bj, music had always been a pipe dream. Raised in an environment where a career in music was deemed impossible, CASHFLOW Bj decided to defy the odds. In his first single “Demontime” released on November 11th, 2022, CASHFLOW Bj’s freestyle songwriting is a force to be reckoned with, as he reflects on how easy it can be to get caught up in the life of the streets, paying the price in federal prison.
Written from a place of anger and frustration, “Demontime” was inspired by a conversation CASHFLOW Bj had with his cousin. “He told me there are only two types of people in Federal Penitentiary; the ones who told, and the ones who wish they had told because even though they didn’t snitch, they still have a life sentence in prison,” says CASHFLOW Bj. The song also acknowledges how people in the street can easily fall into a domino effect that spirals out of control. “Demontime” also contemplates CASHFLOW Bj’s own life, and how his frustration became a catalyst to do something greater.
The dark tones of a piano ripple beneath a vocal melody, setting the somber mood of the track, before a trap beat makes an impact. The beats take inspiration from another track that CASHFLOW Bj was working on at the time when his engineer put a beat on top, and the song naturally began to write itself. CASHFLOW Bj’s easy lyrical flow is an impressive freestyle that weaves in and out of the contemporary production. Towards the end of the track, the drums drop out and an angelic, yet eerie, backing vocal floats above. The beat bounces back, accompanied by a whispered vocal line that brings dynamic intensity as “Demontime” comes to a close.
As a child, CASHFLOW Bj grew up with his cousins, who also made music. Despite being told that achieving a music career would be impossible when the streets were such an easy distraction, CASHFLOW Bj ignored those voices and set himself a goal. He created a record label, Paradigm Music Empire to help other artists. By investing in himself, and learning the tricks of the trade, his mission is to pave the way for other artists who can learn from his mistakes. CASHFLOW Bj has been writing for the past 5 years, but “Demontime” is his first single release. His next single will be released on the 24th of December 2022.

Hip Hop music has always been great when artists are able to showcase their respective scenes where they’re from. Whether it be the infectious bounce from the west coast or the knocking Trap sound from the south, it’s always great to take in music from a thriving scene including the Bronx. Breaking out with their Drill scene makes for an exciting listen with stand-out Velii GQ being one of its breakout stars with his new song “Pain” which makes the ultimate statement of his talent.

The Caribbean artist Zulu Bob is coming back with “Empty Your Mind” now the third single of his upcoming album «Holding On» to be released on February 2023.
This brand-new single is a pure Caribbean flow on a massive hip-hop track that’ll remind you of the ’90s era. “Empty Your Mind” is a statement about the current situation worldwide.

There was no doubt in anyone’s mind that Vandi Lynnae would grow up to be creative. Her reality was immersed in the arts from day one. Her mother was a dancer and classical guitarist, her grandmother a painter and professional clown, and her aunt and uncle lived as songwriters.
So one can imagine the array of musicians in and out of their homes while Vandi was growing up. All of their creative energies inspired Vandi Lynnae to start down her own artistic path at a young age. By five years old, she had gone from admiring her older sister playing piano, to sitting at the bench herself.
The trumpet entered her life at 11, and a year later vocal lessons began. Not too long after that, Vandi Lynnae channeled her aunt and uncle and began writing her own songs. Her first being “Just Around the Corner.”
There was no doubt in her mind that college would be as musical as her childhood. From Shorter College in Georgia to The University of Akron, Vandi Lynnae studied classical music and musical theatre. With that, her stage presence has been felt in productions of ‘Massenet’s Cendrillon,’ ‘Humperdinck’s Hansel und Gretel,’ and ‘Bastien und Bastienne.’ When she isn’t doing theatre, Vandi Lynnae is performing music with three groups; a jazz group in Indianapolis (The Vandi Enzor Quartet), a country-rock cover band (Riding Roughshod), and a duo with her mother (Bye Girls). With those bands, she’s been able to play everywhere from The Chatterbox to Grand Junction.
On top of her impressive performance feats, Vandi Lynnae has gained local notoriety on the Indianapolis airwaves on WICR The Diamond 88.7, as well as some love from Reach On Air with John McAleer. They showed her appreciation by featuring her latest single, “Ramblin’ Man” on their show, “Midnight Magic”.

YOHA has presented this new album of the group Yoha and The Dragon Tribe through this 3rd single entitled “25 Years Old” released at the same time as the Soulcore album on November 11th.
Yoha and The Dragon Tribe is a world music group with multiple influences tinged with Soul, Reggae, or Blues. The new musical show is magnificent and makes the spectators travel in a hyper-artistic and dreamlike universe, and oscillates between meditation and very dynamic Rock Reggae. The public having had the chance to discover it is already won over and the press speaks of it as the scenic discovery of the year.
Yoha and The Dragon Tribe being a groups that can more easily be classified in the World Music branch. Accompanied by many instruments, the dragon tribe begins its first concerts in May 2017. After the 1st album “The Sound of my Soul” in 2017 then the EP “Mad World” in 2018, Yoha released the album “Resilience” in 2019 and became a little more inked in the French artistic landscape.
Two difficult years of a pandemic have passed and the group is back in great strength and more mature than ever. A huge potential exploited 100% for an exceptional new album. Kkronikal is an artist based in Canada. 23 July 2021 (Toronto, ON) – Singer-songwriter Kkronikal releases his brand new single titled “Bloody Moon” following his latest project “The Lost One”.
Kkronikal has stated that this will be the first among many singles to come throughout the next year as he said, “I plan to make this year the biggest one so far with my music”. Making his fans really excited for the year to come, he continues to post hints of upcoming projects and singles on his Instagram. His latest post is the cover art for “Bloody Moon” followed by the caption “July 23, 2021” which has been gaining a lot of traction within the social media application.
Being the next release after his album “The Lost One” it has a lot of hype built around it, Kkronikal has recently posted a story on Instagram stating that the album has just hit over 250 thousand streams worldwide. As well as one of the songs off the album “Alone” being picked up by Genius which is a massive website for insights on song lyrics.
Kkronikal was the only writer of the song, the song was mixed and mastered by PROD along with Kkronikal. The song is available now at all digital retail providers such as Spotify, Apple Music, and Soundcloud to name a few.
Inside The Mind – Foreign Land

Inside the Mind is a fusion reggae band based out of Northern Colorado. Their music features catchy hooks mixed with electric synths, walking bass lines, and hip-hop elements, while also keeping the reggae roots present throughout its entirety.
All the music is created and written by Darrin Williams, formerly from the hip hop group Diverge and Ethix, and performed live by Jeff Koska on Bass, Aaron Cochran on guitar, Connor Hammond and drums, Matt Becker on Trumpet and backup vocals, and with Darrin playing guitar, keys and lead vocals. Releasing their first EP “Good Ideas’ in 2020 and several singles since then, including their latest “Feel You’ve Gone Away”, Inside the Mind has been steadily growing in the reggae scene in Colorado and beyond.
“Foreign Land” was written by Darrin Williams of Inside the Mind. Darrin lives in Colorado and worked with 2 other studios blocks away from his house to record and mix the single. He recorded vocals at “The Lyrik Lab” with Cale Farnham, and had the song mixed with additional production at “Chromatic Vision Studios’ ‘ with Tim Fierro.
It also features drumming from Hunter/Thr3rd Coast Roots/Oracle Sound Studios, and Trumpet from Matt Becker, the official member of Inside the Mind who plays live with the band. The song was written in Mexico on the beach of Playa Del Carmen after going on a long journey through the town to find a guitar. There was also a music video shot in Mexico on the beach! It is a love song and also a song about soul awareness.
Christopher James – Careless

Christopher James is an artist based in Canada. Originally from Montreal, Christopher James was born on August 21st, 2002. His passion for music has always followed him and he has been writing his own music for over 3 years now.
He distinguishes himself by his melancholic melodies and his sincere lyrics. The great rappers of his generation such as Polo G, Lil Baby & Lil Tjay have allowed him to develop his own style. Christopher-James describes himself as a person who doesn’t need to rely on anyone to get ahead in life.
To close the loop of his EP “Golden Road” released on October 14, the young Christopher-James offers the video “Careless“. Directed by Nu Age Films, “Careless” underlines a certain emotional detachment from Christopher-James. He seems, only, preoccupied with the quest for success and he explains the reasons for that in this song.
First of all, he goes back to the past several times to express the motives that pushed him to become such a cold human being. Moreover, the artist explicitly states that luxury occupies a great place in his life. This way of life seems to compensate for the carelessness that inhabits him. In the sentence: “Six bills glasses to clear my vision on y’all lames”, a luxurious element allows him to identify real people from fake ones.
Finally, it is fair to say that the quest for success is the central element of CJ’s personality. The EP was mixed by Christopher James and mastered by Switching Knobs Studios. The artist produced three instrumentals on the project, “Confession”, “Lost Child” and “Careless“. Distributed by Nueva Vista Music/Symphonic, “Golden Road” is currently available on all digital platforms.

Kris James’ extraordinary tale is that of a fierce musical talent finding his way to the light, a backward journey from pop stardom towards authenticity as a singer of his own songs. Due for release on 5th June, ‘Naive’ is the perfect song to tell this story. “Guess I was naive / Didn’t spot the trouble / Now, hey, I’m fine on my own” sings James with a self-assurance we should all aspire to, owning up to his past mistakes with a shrug, and no more than a fleeting backward glance.
The exuberant instrumentation and Kris’ ever-impressive vocal performance really highlight the newfound confidence and carefree attitude that he is now sporting. After years of grafting, joining, and leaving bands, and more than his fair share of near misses, Kris James found himself on his own, without the safety net of a band around him; he could have crumbled.
Instead, he took the opportunity to rebuild himself from the ground up, and it was only here when he was forced to strip back the front-man persona and stand on his own, that James found he was really able to begin to shine. ‘Eyes Open’, his first solo effort, crashed into the top 30 and launched his solo career. It’s safe to say he hasn’t looked back since.
Kris James is a singer/songwriter from Liverpool England. He lives in London but does music around the Uk, Singapore, and also Thailand. He had just finished a 3-month tour with Anastasia and Will Young around Europe.
Kris James writes songs about his experiences throughout life and hopes that his listeners are able to use them as almost a self-help library of songs. In his new single “Home” Kris James wanted to capture the feeling of having that special person in your life, the one that you know will always be there for you, who makes everything worthwhile.
For those lucky enough, the thing that makes a house a home is the person or people in it, not the place itself. This song is about how seeing that person can feel like ‘coming home.’ It’s so easy to get wrapped up in the day-to-day goings on of life, and overlook what really matters; if you’ve got that person in your life, never go a day without telling them you love them!
As an impactful melody, we just felt we had to match the sentiment of the song with the gospel choir in the recording. He’s so pleased with how it turned out and would like to think this is one of the best songs he had ever written.

We weren’t sure what to expect when we sat down with the members of Dark Capricorn Rising, the Neo Heavy Rock band based in Canton MI. First off, there are the cats. Lots of them. 7 cats total between the 3 members. Juxtapose this with a band that cites Nietzsche, Karl Marx, Adam Smith, and Eric Berne as philosophical influences, and Black Sabbath, Rainbow, and Deep Purple as their musical influences.
We asked about their name, Dark Capricorn Rising and our research found that if one has a Capricorn ascendant in their sign, they can be cynical and secretive; If they come to you and say they want to communicate, be ready for an argument! But what we found was a group of talented, serious musicians with a long history in the local music scene, a clear point of view, and a strong message they want to convey. The song “Armageddon” speaks of Man’s nature and the inevitability of war. Our intent is to “Open some eyes” and hopefully enlighten. We wish to continue spreading the “Gospel” of Dark Capricorn Rising.
The name is an acknowledgment of the dark side in us all, and the struggle we experience in daily living. Topical and political, DCR wants fans…fans who know that music can be transformative. Their latest track, Long Time Gone is the story of someone beaten down by the slings and arrows of life, but refusing to give in, and vowing to go on. Two upcoming tracks dropping soon are “The Bleeding Inside”, a song about when humankind is going to get off its self-destructive track, and “8 Days in the Middle”, about recovering from a broken relationship.
DCR (Dark Capricorn Rising) is professionally produced by nationally acclaimed producer Rick Young, (vocals and lead guitar) and has been compared to Black Sabbath, Korn, and Mushroom Head. Young has worked with heavy hitters such as Van Halen, Aretha, Stevie Wonder, and many others. “Powerful but professional and polished is the goal. We are not just banging away and making noise, we want people to hear and understand the lyrics, and to get our message” says Young.

Mardeee was born in Zimbabwe. Mardeee is an eclectic musician, unafraid of experimenting and pushing boundaries with his music. Although his career is still in its nascent stages, the expressive artist has dabbled in emo-trap, afro-swing, and piano, but at the heart of his artistry is love in different forms.
Mardeee started officially making music back in 2019. His debut single, “Leave My Mind,” sees Mardeee address unrequited love on an emotive beat layered with hip-hop synths. A year later, he graced the audience with his debut EP, “Sounds Voyage Pt 1.” A project that showcased his versatility and eagerness to explore different genres of music. From his debut EP, that’s when his passion and love for Afro-beats blossomed and where he has been dropping record after record in the Afro-beats scene.
Mardeee’s unique array of musical influences including Rema, Wizkid, Burna Boy, and Oxlade has carried forth into his own music to create a blend of sounds that is both original and captivating to the listener, with lyrical content that is highly relatable to the everyday listener too.
Mardeee and he’s a rising Afro-beats artist from Canada. His track “Wayo” is a catchy Afro-beats record with a flair of reggae featuring a smooth, brooding vocal performance atop an addictive guitar-led baseline and punching drums that grabs the attention of any listener.
Mardeee’s 2021 Afrobeat single ‘Gotta Let You Know’ garnered global attention, especially from his successful Tik Tok challenge #glykchallenge with over 2.6 million views with the hashtag alone. He followed up with another smash hit at the start of 2022 called ‘Come My Way’, a fusion between Afro-beats and Amapiano. ‘Come My Way’ had another successful Tik Tok challenge #cmwchallenge with over 3.3 million views on the hashtag. The record caught the eye of TV networks, which featured Mardeee’s animated music video on MTV, Trace Africa, and Wasafi TV. He followed up with another banger single called ‘Overboard’ during the summer of 2022, doing incredibly well amongst its listeners too. Mardeee’s success continues to climb with every follow-up record being something different and a vibe to his listeners’ ears. He never fails to disappoint his fans.
The future of Mardeee is incredibly bright and exciting. His latest single “WAYO” is another example of his bright future which he brings elements of both Afro-beats and Latin sounds all in one! Mardeee continues to develop his sound into one that keeps every music listener drawn to his music consistently. Expect another drop before the end of 2022 this December where Mardeee will surely leave you wanting more from him entering 2023. Stay tuned!
Da Messenger’s – Take Me Out The Street Lord

Da messengers is a Uk based urban Christian group that was formed during the COVID pandemic by Melusi and Clinton to encourage people and to bring positivity during those low times.
Due to the success of the music and the effect it had, Da messengers have continued on and released music that still brings positivity no matter the times. The urban, afro-type beats cater to all ages and nationalities and the catchy hooks and lyrics attract people from all backgrounds. Also being formally in gangs, Da messengers understands the importance of keeping it real with its listeners and being authentic.
They formed in July 2020 during Covid, Da Messenger’s was created by Melusi Dube & Clinton Niemba at a recording studio in Birmingham. The duo produced singles and released them on their YouTube channel whilst sending them out to their friends and family every Friday for 6 months.
They are a proud Christian music group sharing love, positivity, happiness, and life’s treasures through their unique storytelling and lyricism with this welcoming and elevating, and atmospheric new track entitled ’Take Me Out The Streets Lord”. Da Messenger‘s works closely with the international breakthrough ministry (IBM Church located in London, Leicester & Birmingham).
