THE i OF A GENiUS uses his lyrical wizardry to touch on societal issues in his new song, “RAP 4 DA $OUL.” Over the lo-fi meets boom-bap instrumental, he taps once more into his signature raspy voice to illustrate the truer meaning of Newton’s Third Law. He also brings awareness to the turmoil COVID and the government have brought into our lives.
He spits lines like, “Ratchet to blow/Got the casket below/massive control/With the mask and tolls.”
Deeper into the first verse, he iterates that rap isn’t meant to impress others. In actuality, its to express yourself in artistic and creative ways. Additionally, the musician brings us a solution to end this burgeoning warfare.
“Air for beat we will need for the grow/Tears in the field we don’t see for the soul,” he spits. “Near connections we will teach when we old/Near a lecture we will need when we go/Need revenge for our peace(piece) to the code.”
In the second verse, The i OF A GENiUS describes the path we were forced to walk along. Luckily, our voices have been lifted, and individuals carry the world in their hands.
“We often take now what the world forgot/We operate now what the world could not/we charge a rate now what the world should not,” he raps.
No matter who reigns the city or states, the rapper will always follow his bird’s eye view and do what’s right.
