SUZANNE’S BAND

Americana, Country-Blues combination Suzanne‘s Band is the official vehicle driven by Texas based singer/songwriter Mia Suzanne Walker. Suzanne’s career highlights include her recent acceptance into the Recording Academy (Grammy’s) and her rapid development as an established You Tube artist. Suzanne’s live shows are a blend of music covering the last seven decades, and are usually a mix of classic rock, pop and country. Booking is available as a solo, duo, trio or full band act. Suzanne’s original songs are also woven into the set list. The non-genre specific approach to Suzanne’s songwriting creates an entirely different basis to build on along with introspective ideals and the importance of self-worth laced into the lyrics. If you’re looking for a deeper connection to life through music, Suzanne‘s Band is it!

The most recent album Ice and Fire dropped earlier this year. All social media, You Tube, website, latest album link, etc. can be found in one easy link at https://flow.page/suzannesband

What is the biggest tip you followed when creating your sound?

To stay within the instrumental boundaries and sound of the genre the song was meant to embody. For example, in the song By the Bayou it was meant to be a country song so instruments like the mandolin, harmonica and such added to that vibe. On the song Reach You, it was more piano pop. All it needed was the piano and strings with some fuller instrumentation in the bridge.

How did your sound evolve from the start to the finish?

It’s always based on the musicians contributing plus hearing how the preliminary tracks sound when first processed in the studio. From the moment I write a song the only way I’ve heard it is just on my acoustic guitar or my piano. When a song is first played with the full band, it always brings me to tears.

Any tricks up your sleeve when making your latest music?

I had a very hands on approach to the mixing for the first time. I was in the process 100% with mixing engineer James Hoover. It was a huge factor in the positive production feedback.

Was there a collection of ideas that you had or did you have a really specific idea on the music?

When I created the album, the songs were put in a particular order to take the listener on a journey albeit only a 30 minute one. If you listen to the album Ice and Fire all at one sitting you can feel what I’m talking about.

How much time do you demand of yourself to focus on your music?

If you are talking about the songwriting side, not nearly enough. The business side of running the business plus “real life” issues that occur throughout the day often suck up hours, days and weeks that could have been spent in the loft working on new material.

Do you have any tips or tricks for our audience on how to manage your time when it comes to making sure your music is on track for release?

Definitely allow time for the whole process to play out and pad some time for delays. They are going to happen. For instance with a 10 song album you need about 2-3 months in the studio, 2 months to mix everything and send for mastering, 1-2 months for artistic development (album artwork, CD’s, sending info to distributor, etc.), 1-2 months for PR hype ahead of release, 1-2 months to prepare videos associated with release if any.
