Single Review: MJ Releases New Single “Not Girl Summer”

Houston based Rap artist, MJ, released a new single “Not Girl Summer” on July 23rd, 2021. The track starts with a ukulele chord progression that continues throughout the track, which kind of slows things down and puts you in a chill mood. Then the beat starts building some energy before MJ comes in.

The lyrics talk about MJ’s struggles, MJ is giving listeners a very intimate and vulnerable look into her life, emotions and feelings. It is very refreshing to have an artist voice their struggles in their art/music, it reminds listeners that lots of people are going through the same problems and struggles that they are in life.
