Shelly Ferrell – “Speak Volumes”

New Jersey-based musician Shelly Ferrell uses her powerful voice to shake society up regarding this dilemma in “Speak Volumes.” Over the groovy jazz meets R&B-infused offering, the femcee urges the people of today’s generation to steer their focus toward things that bring more fulfillment and a positive difference in their lives. The beat at hand also allows Shelly Ferrell to open up about her mental health and other events that have taken place in her life. Instead of being afraid of change, she pushes listeners to go all in. Shelly Ferrell raps, 

“Fear not. It’s mind games. The devil tries to play us/And he just swinging on them swings right next to your cerebral,” along with “Mind your business, not in terms of being nosy, but focus on your next move.” 

As the song continues, she calls out people who put on facades. Moreso, Shelly Ferrell addresses how getting clout has become more important than making connections and discovering what the world offers. 

She delivers, “Now what’s the prerequisites to get a blue check to our name/I guess that’s one step closer/ 15 seconds of fame/I’m feeling distant, feeling like nothings the same.”

Before the song closes, we hear about Shelly Ferrell’s experiences with love, her relationship with her parents, and her ambition. The work she’s putting in now will soon pay off. Or, as she puts it, “Watch me shine like a hundred suns.” But, there’s no rush. Shelly Ferrell knows that the opportunity will present itself in due time.
