Rise ‘dreamworld ™’ EP Review

Rise is a musician who dabbles in singing and rapping. In lyrics, he speaks about his keeping his eyes on the prize, riding for his homies, his growth as an individual and artist, and remaining unfazed. His 4-track effort, dreamworldgoes in-depth about these very topics over spacey and video game-like beats. Themes consist of level-headedness, determination, money-orientation, staying true to who he is, and dodging the haters. To add, Rise often mentions that he’ll always make sure that his loved ones are taken care of. The album, as a whole, keeps listeners engaged due to it’s up-tempo and Rise’s different flows. On dreamworld™, expect to hear Rise singing in auto-croon and unveiling how he plans on doing it big.

“Wat” sees Rise unfazed by anyone who wants the smoke. Over a spacey-type beat, he details how he’s going to stay focused and shy away from the haters. In the song, Rise even unveils that he wants to mend the heart of a girl he cares for. The only thing that matters to Rise in this current time is smoking the most exquisite strand of kush, making money, and making sure that his loved ones are doing okay. He raps, “I’m trying to be someone, trying to be something. I’m going to run this. Coming from the dungeon. Know where I’m headed, don’t need no compass.” Throughout the song, Rise uses a sing-song and bouncy flow. In the end, he concludes that others are so angry because they’re not stacking bands like he is. Deep into the beat, expect to hear sporadic hi-hats, a booming bass, and infectious 8-bit recordings.

On “Sofly” ft. 2tone, Rise showcases an auto-croon and details how his drip game is unmatched. In turn, Rise swoons the ladies and makes other men envious. As the song carries on, the musicians go back and forth in a sing-song flow about what they’ve gained from being, well, the most fly. Additionally, the two unveil that they’re focused on getting a bag. But that doesn’t necessarily mean they don’t have time to love. They don’t want to open their heart, who will end up playing them. Deeper into “Sofly,” the two say that they’re going to ascend with the gang. Rise sings, “I’m finna rise; I’m finna do this shit with my guys/With all my slimes/Yeah we know we finna shine.” The beat takes an R&B approach to electro synths and subtle 808’s.

“Town” sees Rise speaking about his growth as an individual and artist. He also talks about his ways with women and how he’s managed to block out the hate from others. Rise’s desire for success is so impactful that he remains level-headed and works at all costs to make his dreams a reality. In one verse, he raps, “Know if I make it, I’m finna to give back/I take a stand, no, I can’t sit back.” He wants to give his all to music and plans on doing so until its go-time! In one-minute, listeners will hear Rise using a swift flow and rhyme over a video game-ridden beat that’s full of lively arrangements.

Lastly, “Sail” explores Rise’s mindset on making it. He unveils his fear of failing those he loves. In the end, he hopes to prevail and make an impact on the hip-hop community. Before, Rise says that he didn’t make the best decisions. But since then, he’s worked towards self-improvement. As the song continues, Rise talks about blocking out the negativity and staying positive amid the shade. The song consists of an infectious wind percussion and sporadic hi-hats. Additionally, the beat resonates with a video-game track.
