Comprising a beat reminiscent of the early 2000’s, REG MASON ‘s “STÉ (feat. JTT)” calls for a lover to stick by their side.
Placing vulnerability at the forefront of his lyrics, the R&B singer juggles between fighting for his relationship or moving on. After seeing how his lover maneuvers pre-breakup, the New Jersey-based artist reveals he’s considering finding a new partner. “You give my love away, I’ll take my ass down to Juanita,” he delivers.
As the mellow lo-fi offering continues, JTT spits a few resonating bars about not wanting to let that special someone go. Despite having immense love for this person, JTT considers that their split may benefit them both. “Little shorty was my A to Z,” he raps. “Standing in between all your blessings, what I hate to see.”
Before the song ends, REG MASON wonders if his pursuits only force a connection between them. As he contemplates the possibility of letting what they share die down, the singer sings, “Is it love if it’s feeling forced? ‘Cause losing you is something that I can afford.”
REG MASON says about his new record,
“‘STÉ (feat. JTT)’ is about the internal battle that occurs when you’re with someone who you’re not entirely sure accepts the fundamental part of you that is being an artist. Anyone in a position where they have to choose whether or not they will give up their dreams for a relationship knows this feeling, including myself, and that’s something I’m not willing to compromise.”
“STÉ (feat. JTT)” comes on the heels of his latest confident-centered banger, “CHECKERBOARD!”
