RED ROLL

Italian band, Red Roll, is making 2022 their best year yet. They just released their new song, Shrift, which will be followed by the release of their full length album later this month through Universal Music Italia. The album was recorded in Monza, Frequenze Studios, January 2022, and according to the band, creating this album was very therapeutic. Each song depicts a state of mind, a marginality, an extreme;  a departure from what is socially acceptable in daily life. A departure from what we say out loud in everyday life.

The band, Red Roll, was born in the summer of 2018. It was formed by four lifelong musicians. The band is composed of Passo on vocals and guitar, Leo on guitars and vocals, Cesi on bass, and Jonny on drums. Since that day, they have played nonstop. They have been making their dreams come true one step after another. Red Roll has found a way to get their music out there, despite the unprecedented times of the pandemic, which was full of restrictions, particularly in Italy. 

This year the world will see the escalation of Red Roll as a band in the music world.  The band just signed a distribution deal with Universal Music Italia for their upcoming album, and have recently signed with manager Andrea Dulio.

We love your new fire music! How did you come up with the concept for the song?

Hello guys and thank you very much for having us, it is a pleasure to be here!

This song is called “Beautiful Lie”, it is a song about the times you know that you are living inside a lie but, these lies are the way to go on! Sometimes a lie makes you feel better than the truth! You want to believe this lie because it is easier than the reality!

What is your favorite part about  the song? 

I don’t know! We love this song in every part! By the words side, and by the music side! It is a long and slow “crescendo” from the beginning to the chorus!

What were you most meticulous about on your latest song? 

This song requires a lot of work! Trying to make everything in the right position! Words over the guitar riff…. pre chorus, chorus!

What was the writing process like?

Beautiful Lie was borned from the guitar riff you can hear at the beginning of the song! Leo, our guitarist, came up with this idea… we love it and we start working on it all together.  The first idea was to create a big crescendo and all the construction of this song goes in this direction.

What kind of mood was set in order to create the magic?

SIlence, introspection! Every song in this album is a journey inside a hidden part of ourselves!

Is there a critique you’ve gotten on the single that you worked through and it’s made the overall work better? 

No, not in this song at least. From the beginning we were thinking that Beautiful Lie could be a strong song. Than when our producer took a listen to the demo of the song he said: yes… this is a fucking great song!

What are you most excited about for fans to hear on your latest single?

I hope they can find something personal inside the lyrics. Something that can make them say: hey, I felt that way too.

What has been the best feedback so far?

The best feedback about our last Album? A lot of people told us that it is a “complete album”. Something where every part is in the right place. From the artwork to the music to the word.

It’s a mature job where Red Roll has found his identity.
