This Roselle, New Jersey artist is using melodies and vulnerable truth to make his mark.
It’s no secret that New Jersey houses a lot of talent. The Garden State may have another promising artist on the rise. Hailing from Roselle, Shoddyy is definitely a New Jersey artist you want to pay attention to. At just 17 years old, Shoddyy has cultivated a unique sound using melodies inspired by the likes of A Boogie, Lil Tjay, and more. In addition, we love that the New Jersey artist is making sure that every song he releases is “deeper than music”. With this amount of passion and an early focus on substance, I think the future is bright for Shoddyy.
Shoddyy Opens Up On Latest Release ‘Why Would I?’
Based on a true story, Shoddy’s single “Why Would I” seems to be about a pretty messy break up. The New Jersey artist goes on to rap about feelings of regret and anger after thinking the girl he was dealing with was the one. Unfortunately, she proved otherwise and the Roselle artist is left scorned. Over an emotional instrumental, Shoddyy showcases great storytelling ability as he takes us through his experience.
Shoddyy can rap! His delivery is easy to understand and sounds comfortable. Opening up about real feelings will also help fans relate to him on a deeper level. His melodies sound well thought out and flowed well with his lyrics. Overall, I would rate this song somewhere around a 7 out of 10. I would have enjoyed some variation within his cadences. He may have been singing in one key the entire song as well. Adding some inflections and pushing the limits of his voice could add even more replay value to this track. Nonetheless, I am looking forward to more music from this New Jersey artist.
