What fire new music can you tell your new fans here about?  

We are currently working on Modern Amusement’s second album! We tried some new things with the songwriting on this one and I think the people who listen to our music are really going to like it! We’ve been happy with the success of our song I Have A Crush On Lisa Loeb and now we’re ready to try something a little different and I think it’s going to be really cool.

What is your favorite verse on I Have A Crush On Lisa Loeb? 

For me it’s:

“Sound creates an image

Sometimes it goes right to my heart

It freaks me out the way a singer

Feels so close but so far”

I think that verse captures everything that the song is about, which is connecting with a singer who you’ve never met by listening to and relating to their music.

What were you most meticulous about on your latest song? 

I think I worked pretty hard on the lyrics for this one, funnily enough lyrics are usually one of my lower priorities on a song but I felt like with a song called I Have A Crush On Lisa Loeb I had to bring something into the lyrics that could live up to that title!

Any new collabs happening soon?

I’m working with Vannessa Silberman on the upcoming second album, she’s producing and helping out with other various things on each song. She’s a super incredible artist in her own right and it’s been amazing working with her and I can’t wait for people to hear the finished product!

Dream collab? 

If I could work with any musician in the world it would definitely be Rivers Cuomo of Weezer, he is my biggest inspiration as a musician and songwriter and I feel like I could learn a lot from working with him, just like I do from listening to his music!

Is there a critique you’ve gotten on your music that you worked through and it’s made the overall work better? 

When I first started writing songs back in high school I kind of tended to let them run pretty long, a lot times over five minutes and sometimes people would tell me the song was good but it was too long. The more I would listen to my favorite songs I would realize that most of them get the job done within three or four minutes and I honestly think that’s even more impressive than making a song really long, if you can check all the boxes of what makes a great song in a more efficient way and not waste anyone’s time. So for me, the best advice I’ve gotten for my songwriter was to not waste people’s time and keep things to the point and I think it’s done wonders for my writing.

What are you most excited about for fans to hear on your new album?

Everything really! I guess if I had to pin something down though I would say the guitar. We went a lot more guitar-heavy on this one, I even brought in my friend Sam Kurschner, the greatest guitarist I know personally, to play on the album and he knocked it out of the park! The song Bed Bugs in particular is the song I’m most excited for people to hear.

Give us anything else you want to know about what you’re up to?
