ManorTrapItOut – “Be Useful”

ManorTrapItOut lyrically takes a jab at chout chasers, drama starters, and gold diggers in his song “Be Useful.” The one-minute track comes off his project, Ya Favorite Trappa. He lists things he won’t tolerate from his future sweetheart without much hesitation.

If his partner is detrimental to his finances, he won’t shy away from cutting ties. Instead, he’d fancy a woman that matches his hustle.

“I’m a full-time trap n*gga, not no f*ckin babysitter,” he elaborates in one line.

By the following few lyrics, we learn that ManorTrapItOut seeks interest in a lady who feeds his soul intimately and mentally, to name a few. Afterward, the rapper explains other women he’s worked with. The experiences he’s had ultimately altered his view on dating.

As the song reaches its end, the “Cali Plug” emcee recalls a time when he was a sneaky link. Yet, he was treated like this woman’s beau. Finally, a violin chord seeps in with audio from a phone call, enticing fans for the song ahead.

“Be Useful” is a hip-hop offering that’s led by a wonky horn arrangement. Throughout the record, ManorTrapItOut uses a melodic and edgy flow.

Natalee Gilbert got the chance to speak to ManorTrapItOut at New Fire Music. You can read the convo below:

1. How did your music journey begin?

As an artist/producer. It started 7,280 miles away from my birthplace in Elizabeth City, NC. It happened in the Country of Kuwait. I recorded my first song, “Cali Plug,” and that’s when I found out how therapeutic creating music could be for me. But as a fan, I’ve always enjoyed music since a kid. Being from the south, I enjoy shit like the “Battle of the Bands.” The drums move me.

2. How would you describe your sound to someone who hasn’t heard your music yet?

Well, if they haven’t heard my music, I’m sure they have listened to Starlito, Young Dolph, 50 Cent, Plies, and Gucci Mane. I’m like all of them wrapped in one.

3. What’s your creative process like?

That’s my favorite part of making the music because that’s when you get to see a master at work. So usually, I make my own beats on the spot. Then I record the song once the beat is fresh. It’s like food; it’s best right out the oven.

4. The meaning behind your moniker:

My stage name comes from my neighborhood. I grew up in a place named Elizabeth Manor. I spent my whole life there as a kid, so I put Manor with Trapitout, which means to me, by any means you, don’t make excuses, you get the job done. So when I say my name ManorTrapItOut, I’m telling myself to get the job done.

5. One thing you need before hopping in the studio:

I make my best music when I feel some type of way. Because if I don’t put feelings in my music, I don’t think people will relate or feel the authenticity.

6. Not too long ago, you dropped a song. What were the steps you took to make it come to life?

I lived. That’s what my music is about. Bringing it to life is what an artist does. It’s simple.

7. In a word, what would be the underlying message in your song?

“Be Useful”

8. One of your favorite lines & why?

The first line of the hook: “I can’t stand next to no bitch if I can’t get no money with her.” Because it’s facts.

9. What inspired your newest song?

Just felt like females around me at the moment were trying to use me. But, in the end, they weren’t beneficial to me.

10. What do you hope others take from it?

“Put your best foot forward and always. Add before you take away. Add value to someone who can be helpful to someone.
