Staten Island, New York-based musician Lil Elevate recently debuted his song “Wonder” just last month. This release follows his nine-track effort, Does Love Exist, which features smash hits “Rosalina” and “BFF.”
Clocking in at nearly two minutes, “Wonder” is a blend of pop and hip-hop arrangements. Using a melodic cadence akin to the late rapper Juice Wrld, Lil Elevate reflects on a former relationship that left him scarred. Between the lyrics, the artist wonders why his ex-girlfriend left him out to dry. He delivers, “I just wonder why/Like why (Woah woah) /Do you do this every time (Omg) /When you know I try/Sometime/To make everything right.” Before this, he admits to going to great lengths to pursue her.
Deeper into the song, Lil Elevate speaks about working around the clock, so “it’s really no time to waste.” Elsewhere he opens up to those listening about obstacles he overcame to be in the position that he’s in today. He raps, “I gotta watch out for my past/Going too fast /Hope I don’t crash.”
