Around the holidays, Inspirmentalist dropped off a special package to the musical realm titled Bearing Gifts 2.
Essentially, the project invites listeners into a warm territory of good vibes, relaxation, and comfort. Bearing Gifts 2 pulls out a seat for those tuning in, and immediately, they are taken into the rich sounds of jazz, funk, soul, boom-bap, and background music. In better terminology, the 7-track project centers around the feeling of togetherness, joy, and nostalgia during Christmas.
From the classical undertone found in “dreamchaser” to the subtle jazz offering, “wish list,” listeners will certainly remember why it’s always the most wonderful time of the year.
Standout tracks include “early morning sunrise,” “out of your comfort zone,” and “subtle approach.” But, I highly recommend that you give the whole project a spin.
“early morning rise” is a track that stays rooted in a jazzy Muzik-type of styling. Pairing a steady kick-snare with island-inspired bell loops and boom-bap elements, this record carries an unwavering pattern from start to end, making sure to give the tranquil back tone a playful synth to coincide with. Equally impressive is the wind percussion that flows within the song every so often.
“out of your comfort zone” is an edgy jazz offering with boom-bap influence. Throughout the record, Inspirmentalist throws in a meditative sounding flute loop and kick-snares. The New Jersey producer also mixes in warm piano breaks to give the track a more relaxing tone. All-in-all, “out of your comfort” is a track that anonymously urges you to do a head bob. You’ll also be ready to conquer the day.
Like the last track, “subtle approach” explores jazz arrangements and boom-bap. However, this track lets a passionate trumpet lead the way and is followed by drums, a sample from Anita Baker’s “Sweet Love,” and piano loops. Some might even concur that the rhythm direction is akin to a 90’s R&B love song. In nearly three minutes and seventeen minutes, the soundscape lets the trumpet take the floor before blending with the elements mentioned above. Equally important is the ending where the wind instrument serenades an individual’s ears with a rendition of a timeless R&B track.
