Hello Flames Of Durga! Thank you for speaking with me today!
What have you been working on lately?
We just got home from our longest tour yet! We were on the road in support of our newest single “White Owl” which is the second single off our upcoming full-length album. We went up the west coast, all the way up to Seattle, then over to Reno and the southwest before making our way back to SoCal in LA.
Who inspired you to get into music?
Our parents. Although not practicing musicians themselves, they’ve blessed our upbringing, always supporting the arts and encouraging our creativity. Music has always been an inspiring, visceral and cathartic force of nature for us. There have been many songs and musicians who’ve inspired us, but a need to express ourselves musically has always been with us since we could remember.
When was the first time you recall thinking that you wanted to pursue music as your career?
I think we’ve always had a deep craving to pursue music as a career. It’s always been a big part of who we are. We grew up playing different instruments, singing, and performing throughout our childhood and simply could not live without it as adults.
What is your favorite song you’ve ever released and why?
It’s extremely hard to pick one favorite song since all of them contain different elements and are time capsules in our band’s evolution. Our favorite three are our most recent singles “Remember The Now”, “Darkest Hour”, “White Owl”. All of these songs have a more current representation of our music. Also, each one has a deep message behind the lyrics. “Remember The Now” is about breaking free from the nine to five, “Darkest Hour” is about shedding toxic relationships and becoming stronger from dark times, “White Owl” is about breaking free from the ego mind and opening up the third eye or psychic awareness.
Who are some of the artists currently inspiring you?
The Kills, Rival Sons, Fantastic Negrito, Larkin Poe, Black Mountain, Kyuss, Alice In Chains… to name a few!
What are you hoping to see in the music world as it continues to evolve?
More support for independent artists, especially females. Also, more platforms that get musicians paid.
Please let everyone know how they can keep up with you and your music!
