Hello! Thank you for speaking with me!
Tell us about your latest release!
My latest release “It’s my party” is kind of self-explanatory, I created it on some self-empowerment type stuff, I was probably feeling myself I had a lot of money, just bought my dream car a Mercedes s500, and I just was in that party live life type of vibe, but like the title I want everybody who listens to it to feel like in this life experience, it’s your party and you can do whatever it is you want because I’m a firm believer in taking your destiny into your own hands.
What was the creative process for it?
The creative process was pretty standard for any other song I create, except I had just upgraded my home studio which I encourage all artist to have, but I just put neon LEDs and signs up everywhere, I had palm trees and all this stuff to embody that real Exotic feel so I could reflect that in the music. I made the beat a year and a half prior and just sat on it for whatever reason and I always had the hook in my head, so all there was left to do was record it, and I don’t write so I just sat in front of the mic and said what I wanted to because it’s my party and I do what I want and feel.
Who are some of your biggest musical influences?
First influence is my upbringing on 90s hip hop and R’n’B and a little bit of gospel, second my city of LA Marque Texas growing up there was fun for the most part so when I make music I think about all the stuff I got into and how it molded me, third influence has to be my cousin Vernon. He had this rap group back in the gap that made some of the best music I’ve ever heard and I would wanna make music with em but of course I was too young and they didn’t wanna be chilling around a 7 year old. It wasn’t til later when I would get the chance to work with em but they made me wanna write. I never told em this but I would learn their songs and rap them at school as if they were mine. Fourth, influences as far as artists and producers go, I would say Tupac, Andre 3000, Rick Ross, Sade, Brandy, Drake, Timbaland and Missy Elliott, Teddy Riley, Devante Swing, Fat Pat, and the whole SUC click, and Rodney Jenkins. I am music pretty much.
Who would be a dream collaboration for you?
My dream collab on the producer side would be, the late great Johnny J, and Static Major, and also Missy Elliott and Timbaland, and Tank. Now on the artist side, the late great 2pac, Tank, Drake, Brent Faiyaz, and Brandy.
Do you have a piece of advice you carry with you that you like to pass on to other musicians?
And I know this sounds cliché and I would always here rappers say this but never give up no matter if you feel like all is lost and you at rock bottom DONT GIVE UP! KEEP GOING. See I’ve been at the bottom, homeless with nothing, and I’ve been close to the top where I felt like I was back again. So I would say if you can’t see yourself doing anything else then keep pushing forget the doubters and the snake and fakes and just be great and stay motivated. Oh and hone in on your craft don’t just get in front of the mic and just record and drop, make sure it sounds good, go back and tweak stuff if you feel it don’t sound good, find out how to make it better, study the game and the ones before you who succeeded, and learn from their ups and downs and learn the art of making music. Don’t just wake up and say or ima be a rapper today.I feel like that is what is wrong with the game now, ain’t enough artist development, it’s just here let’s record this and hope it stick..nah study and learn.
Any upcoming projects we should be on the lookout for?
Well right now! I’m focusing on the stuff i have out so I don’t get burned out too fast since I do everything myself but most definitely be ready to hear more R&B from me..like real raw R&B music now this R&B mixed with trap but the stuff that’ll give you nostalgia like a mug lol
Please let everyone know where they can keep up with you and your music!
