Meet Emerging Artists Light Voyage & VYBZ From Newark, NJ

Meet Newark, NJ artists Light Voyage and VYBZ. The artists first became friends playing High School sports and the rest has been history. Both musicians lean more towards the alternative rock genre which is rare these days for artists of color. Naturally, we wanted to know what inspired these artists to make music from the beginning and how their sound has developed over time.

Light Voyage is an introspective, thoughtful musician who’s music aligns with his birth chart according to him. We talk about how his music reflects his personality and some of his life experiences. Voyage sites Tory Lanez and Drake as two artists that he’s listening to heavy right now, but music found him early. Light Voyage would hear songs on television as a child and try to mimic them in his on way. He took music classes in grade school and never let up.

VYBZ is a multi-talented musician who’s always wanted to be a performer since a child. His biggest inspiration is the GOAT Michael Jackson. He had early dreams of being a triple threat (singing, dancing, acting) from watching Disney Channel growing up. He believes the industry is ripe for disruption as “microwave music” has begun taking over. He admits that talent has been missing from the music industry for awhile.

VYBZ does not let genres define him as he just looks to create FIRE. He’s slowly curated his sound and isn’t looking to rush his craft. The artist is pushing his boundaries as a performer as well, recently getting in to choreography routines to wow his audience.
