As Blac Francis waits by the phone, he wonders if the person who holds his heart still loves him in “Dial Up.”
On the R&B meets lofi offering, Blac Francis opens up about how he’s felt since the two went their separate ways. The singer also admits to keeping their eye out for a missed call in hopes of it being his one true love. “My heart has really turned the tide,” Blac Francis sings. “My heart is still cold /Cause I don’t have the time right now/Checking my phone/I’m addicted, and I just can not stop.”
As the song continues, the musician confesses they’re still “the one” for them. Blac Francis says he wishes he could go back to the past before attempting to pinpoint his emotions. “Wish I had time I could rewind/The present defines the feelings that I cannot define/Frozen in time/Wish I control the sound of time,” Blac Francis says.
Elsewhere in “Dial Up,” the DMV artist seeks to escape his thoughts. “An idle mind will waste no time in oblivion/Save my life hold me tight in oblivion,” Black Francis croons.
In the artwork for “Dial Up,” Blac Francis’ skin is sparkling, and he sits behind a unique-looking matrix code.
