Last month, Pop singer A-Zal released his fifth single of the year, “Lonely Town,” which was met with much acclaim. The self-directed music video for “Lonely Town” earned A-Zal a nomination in the Best Music Video category at the 2023 Montreal Independent Film Festival. Capitalizing on the success, the rising crooner is back with a new single, “Autopilot.” A-Zal gets vulnerable in “Autopilot” and provides listeners with resonating, thought-provoking, and introspective lyrics.
“Autopilot” has a sentimental theme like “Lonely Town,” but is a bit more up-tempo. The record touches on various topics, but is overall about the “going through the motions” phase in life where one is living, but doesn’t feel alive. “‘Autopilot’ is a song about a part of life where everything runs on cruise control, just like the autopilot mode of an airplane,” A-Zal states. The heartfelt track tackles these somber emotions in a poetic, hopeful manner.
In a similar fashion to his previous releases, A-Zal accompanied the release of “Autopilot” with a self-directed music video. The music video features A-Zal in a variety of different outfits and scenes against a white backdrop. The music video is artsy and visually stunning, and allows the viewer to grasp the message of “Autopilot.” The visual also is cleverly filmed and in such a way that viewers can formulate their own interpretation of the message(s) that A-Zal is attempting to profess.
“Autopilot” serves as a teaser of what’s to come. It is a lead single for A-Zal’s upcoming debut album, “17 & 11 Nights,” which is slated to be released next year. The album will also feature fan favorites: “Movie Script” and “Lonely Town.” While anticipation brews, stay in the moment, don’t let life fly by, and savor and immerse yourself in the sweet sounds of “Autopilot.”
