Don Knock – “Copenhagen (20 Hour Rendezvous)”

Today on New Fire Music, we’ll be speaking about Don Knock, but this time, it’ll focus on his latest release, “Copenhagen (20 Hour Rendezvous).”

Don Knock’s “Copenhagen (20 Hour Rendezvous)” is a tropical house offering that provides the perfect cool down right before summer’s departure. At first, the track carries an ambient backdrop with minimalistic arrangements, but deeper into it, ears will perk up at the sweet piano number, subtle bassline, and a guitar arpeggio. Some might even concur that the musical styling is akin to Swae Lee‘s.

Lyrically, Don Knock is captivated by a beautiful woman who carries herself well. At the drop of a hat, he’ll do any and everything to keep a smile on her face. But, they aren’t a couple yet. From the context clues, it can be said that they’re both crushing real hard on each other.

“She got a thing for the kid I know/And I’m really feeling you on the low,” he sings with a velvety register. 

As the song continues, Don Knock delivers words about them just kicking back and enjoying each other’s company. There’s no need for this lady to question his intentions because it’s clear as day.

“Told me to come through, and I’m running, Forest,” he sings.

It was my first trip to Europe and we had 5 countries to conquer in 10 days. My first destination was London, England. I had been there for a day when we went to a pub called Zoo Bar on a random Sunday. At the bar, I met a young lady that told me she was from Copenhagen. Under the influence of a few drinks, I confidently replied, “That’s in the Netherlands right?” Thankfully, she laughed at my ignorance. In the four days that I was in London, we spent 20 hours in total together. We ran around the town and in that time she talked quite a bit about her home city of Copenhagen. Her stories about Copenhagen, which is actually the capital of Denmark, inspired me so much that the day I returned back to New York, I wrote this song. 20 Hour Rendezvous is inspired by the 20 hours I shared in London with a woman from Copenhagen. All-in-all, Don Knock knows that she’s the whole package. She knows how to do an exceptional wine, charismatic, caring, and definitely has a hold on him.
