Lil Romo – “Long Time (feat. Duke Da Beast)”

Chicago-based lyricist, Lil Romo, hurdled through many obstacles to get to where he is today. But music, overall, became his solitude. At just 11-years-old, Romo put the pen to the pad. And his inspirations, Lil Wayne and Michael Jackson, helped Rome appreciate the beauty behind rhyme schemes and artistry. Romo believes that “writing allows you to go deeper” and he applauds himself for having a gift for rapping. His unapologetic storytelling has garnered the attention of an active audience and has even earned him the number one spot on Chicago media outlet, What’s the Word’s “2020 Artist to Watch List.”

The themes in his music speak on his upbringing and the love he has for his hometown. In other Lil Romo news, he’s prepping for the release of his album, King Without A Crown, which will be on different streaming platforms next Friday (Aug 14th).

Today, he releases a musical ode to a former friend called “Long Time (feat. Duke Da Beast).”

“Long Time (feat. Duke Da Beast)” is a trap-symphony offering that’s mostly led by a booming bassline and infectious hook. The song sees Lil Romo and his feature, Duke Da Beast, reflecting on how the passing of their brothers has affected them. Using a sing-song flow, Lil Romo raps, “It felt like it ain’t been the same in a long time/Know right from wrong but still do wrong because my bros died/Hard to listen to other niggas I got my own mind.” Following after, Duka Da Beast raps, “Man, I miss my brother, do anything to get him back/I got demons all in front of me but angels on my back. Relationships done left me with some strings, don’t get attached.”

As the song continues, Lil Romo takes a moment for retrospection. “The streets left me with scars, I got some open sores,” he spits. Shortly after, Lil Romo reemphasizes that he has a fighting spirit and that no hater can phase him. Lil Romo is only ascending from here!
