Lil Honda‘s single “Date Night” follows the release of his 20-track effort, Lil Honda Loves You, which features artists like Derek King, Lil B, and Vee Tha Rula, to name a few. Funnily enough, Honda’s new song carries a piece of the album’s theme. On “Date Night,” the “Beverly” singer calls out those who put on a facade, before getting into how he’s the real deal. Moreover, if there’s ever a doubt in anyone’s mind, Honda urges them to look at his drip and foreign whips. But even so, the truth lies in his eyes.
During the second verse, Honda expresses to his love how special she is to him. He’d like to give the Misses the time of her life à la date night. Although she’s turned him down before, it doesn’t stop Honda from shooting his shot. Towards the end, he promises to treat her right and shower her with ice. Honda sings, “I know you said I ain’t your type, but I wanna know if I could have one night,” and “Buy you diamonds so bright, date night.”
Throughout “Date Night,” Honda is backed by an oscillating, bright piano riff, snares, and hi-hats. He also showcases a passionate register in his auto-croon. In terms of the chorus, however, Honda’s vocality resonates with “Love Me More” artist, Trippie Redd.
As per Honda, “‘Date Night’ is about this girl I love named Ciana and how we went on a crazy, great date.”
