While the original song centers on letting go of a partner yet still longing for their presence, K Camp mirrors that emotional tug-of-war in his version.
Using his signature melodic flow, he tells his lover that he dipped because “there’s always something” occurring between them. From there, he reminisces about their honeymoon phase, which quickly dissipated as time passed. “I was your dude / Everything was cool, and then it went cold,” he delivers. “Everything started off so good until the s**t get old.”
As the song continues, K Camp reveals why he’s close to throwing in the towel, questioning whether his sweetheart even recognizes his efforts to keep their relationship intact.
