Xenia Manasseh and Karun wonder if they’ll ever be close to their lovers again in their most vulnerable record, “Anticipate.” The moody R&B soundscape propels the singer’s emotional maturity and willingness to rekindle the spark she once shared with her beau.
On “Anticipate,” Xenia Manasseh wonders if her relationship can withstand the test of time. As their connection dwindles, Xenia Manasseh puts an effort into bringing the romance back. She asks her partner for clarity on what’s happening between them, especially in the following lines: “Wondering if our love is wasting away/Are we driving towards separation?” Xenia sings.
In the rest of Xenia Manasseh’s recent single, the award-winning songstress checks in with herself to find a solution to their problem. Xenia Manasseh also questions if she’s the reason for her partner’s absence. The divide between them causes Xenia’s romantic feelings to lessen for this individual.
She sings, “No, nothing feels the same baby/I used to get lost in your fragrance/Something like butterflies and ecstasy.”
Xenia Manasseh closes the record by asking her other half if they can have that old thing back. “Will you go back there with me?” she croons. “Back to when our love was free?”
“Anticipate” is another leading single off her forthcoming album. The emotive record also comes on the heels of her single, “Temporary Love.”
“I talk about a love that is undeniable and my desire actually to pursue something that will last.” she opens up about the record.
Xenia Manasseh has been named among Spotify’s RADAR Programme for 2023 and opened for Kenyan pop band Sauti Sol on their Los Angeles North American Tour at The Belasco this year as well.
