Benito Loko – “Floating”

Benito Loko ‘s “Floating” is a hypnotic offering that assists with helping listeners escape everyday woes. Merging woozy trap R&B elements with a steady flow and honest bars, “Floating” finds Benito Loko leaning on his vices and fully committing to his craft. Elsewhere, the rapper alludes to wanting a relationship with no strings attached, spitting, “I got commitment issues just so you know (I do)/But I love me a friend with some benefits /Maybe we should do it, just for the hell of it/If ya feelin me then it’s gon be active.” 

“Floating” also sees Benito Loko passing on tips on how to be the Man. The New York-based rapper also takes a moment to credit himself for his evergrowing accolades. The musician continues to play on the theme of directness by admitting he’s only focusing on “countin’ thru all of these commas.” 

He told Green Tea Studios about his new release,

“The meaning behind ‘Floating’ is simple. A friend blessed me with a 400mg edible, and I wanted to embody the experience through song. The beat is infectious, laid back, and plays into my wheelhouse. The entire song was created in about an hour or two. From creation of the beat to writing the lyrics to recording all the vocals. I wanted to capture how I felt at that moment. So that’s why it was such an easy piece of work to complete. If you have listened to any of my other works, I love referencing past relationship encounters, so there’s a few mixed in there. Overall the track is the type you can kick back and roll one to.” 

In other words, “Floating” truly depicts what it means to have a trip full of revelation and self-discovery. In three minutes and fourteen seconds, Benito Loko highlights his knack for storytelling and distinction from other upcomers.
