Artist Corner: The Brkn

The Brkn is an alt pop band based out of Denver, CO. 

Give us the set up of how your latest music came to be?

Basically we made a ton of demos in my bedroom on a laptop with GarageBand and Logic. Using a tower as our speaker, one midi controller, an Spd, loads of samples, and one guitar. It was the most fun I’ve ever had, truly. We took those demos to Nashville with Mason Maxwell and worked out the tracks you hear now out in the world. Mason is really a genius and we can’t wait to work with him again on this next record.

What is setting your music apart from what is being heard in the music industry today? 

Honestly I think we have a unique mix of 80’s revival pop and being a live band. We really try to lean into the edge we have live and are going to lean in even harder on this next collection of songs.

How are you multiplying the ways your music is being heard?

One big thing is we started pushing our Spotify more and that’s been unbelievable for our numbers! Thank you to everyone who has us on playlists out there they help more than you know! As well as, we just got our song added to over 25 radio stations around college towns all over the US. We’re over the moon about that. Big Thank you to all the stations that have Not The Same in their rotation now and big thanks to all those who listen! Please call your local radio station and tell em you wanna hear The BRKN!

Why is it so important for you to continue to make new music that matters?

Honestly it’s important to us because we feel like we can’t NOT do it you know what I mean? It’s ingrained in us and a part of us. At the end of the day we do it because we’re made for it and are very grateful that people out there love it too.

What does your latest music say about you?

Our latest two singles really reflect us finding a sound of our own. At least that’s what it feels like to me. We now make songs without references and just see what comes out naturally. Much more organic and much more freeing.

What is the message you are trying to convey for your fans? 

We try to show everyone out there who’s going through a tough time that they aren’t alone. We’re here for you and we’re your friends 🙂 Because that’s what all of our favorite bands did for us.

Leave us with a meaningful story that connects to your latest music that is the ultimate takeaway for your fans?

We got the chance to play our latest EP and 2 singles on the road in the EU and the UK a couple months ago. It had been a dream of ours to do that since we started the band and being able to finally make it happen was unreal. Thank you to everyone who came to those shows. We can’t wait to see you again! Dreams come true.
