Timi O, is a first-generation Nigerian-born artist raised in Massachusetts, draws inspiration from his culture, anime, and his vulnerability. The result is Hip Hop music with heavy attention to detail and an ability to always bring something new to the experience.
The “anti-social extrovert” has also quickly been embraced by the Boston music scene, demonstrating high-energy performances, a wide vocal range, and a unique ability to command the crowd. The potent lyricist continues to show his artistry with surreal visuals, depicting a direct representation of his identity.
“25” is his way of blending his identity as a Nigerian-American Hip-Hop artist. The sample reminded him of some of the music his dad played him while growing up. He’s really into Highlife and Jazz. From there, Timi O wanted to find a way to bridge Yoruba culture with his style of music, so he decided to talk about Wahala, which means “trouble”. Nigerians are known as incredible storytellers within their music. Timi O wanted to capture that energy and essentially decided to tell a story of defeating the wahala around him.
