ZEALOUS GROOVES

Zealous Grooves was born in the capital city of New Mexico and honed their musical prowess in the downtown clubs in Albuquerque, NM. After meeting Drummer Kent and Bassist Adrian, with Shanahan on guitars/vocals, the group quickly started writing the new material which would become the eclectic style of the band.

While the rock influence is recognizable in the sounds of Zealous Grooves, you will hear hints of folk, funk, blues, punk, and a bit of hip hop in their ever growing catalog of music. While the mash up of genres is there, one thing remains the same, the love of the music.
We love your new fire music! How did you come up with the concept for the song?
The song was just about one’s own journey and how you can overcome most obstacles with the right attitude.

What is your favorite part about  the song?
The chorus breakdowns are nice and the lyrics with the story it tells.

What were you most meticulous about on your latest song?
Mostly about how coherent the lyrics and the story of the song went. We wanted the melody to match the music and honestly it has a summer vibe going on.

Your latest collaboration, how did this come about?
One day Shanahan’s nephew, DJ Mile5 called him up and asked if he could write and sing some lyrics to a song. Shanahan wrote the song and recorded the parts in about 20 minutes.

Who did what on the song?
DJ Mile5 did all the music and the arrangement, Shanahan did all the vocals and the guitar solo.

What was the writing process like?
Very simple, it was just a matter of sitting down and putting pen to paper. Nothing glamorous.

What kind of mood was set in order to create the magic?
Shanahan – After hearing the melody a couple of times I felt the chill groove, almost nostalgic, so I thought about all the thoughts I had walking to work and that was the mood.

Is there a critique you’ve gotten on the single that you worked through and it’s made the overall work better?
Not really, the only opinion that mattered was Mile5 and he loved the track.

What are you most excited about for fans to hear on your latest single?
For them to throw on the track while heading to the lake of the river with the windows down and a car full of friends.

What has been the best feedback so far?
People have asked us why we were not famous yet, haha.

Leave us with your favorite fire lyrics of the song?
“There’s times when I’m walking down the road, I think about life and all of its heavy loads. The struggles and the pains, all the losses and the gains.”
