Unraveling the merry-go-round he’s gone through thus far with his significant other, SkitzoLuvhartD urges her to take accountability for the faults that separated them in “self:session.”
While SkitzoLuvhartD flows smoothly over the scattered piano loop-led boom-bap production, he reflects on their split and the events that followed it.
After speaking on the world’s corruption, he spits,
“Cut ties you was once mines/Luckily/Eyes covered me/To scare a nigga a fall through/To enticed wit trauma and ice/Thinking this lust was love.”
SkitzoLuvHartD then thinks back to the difficulties he had to hurdle over to make them right again. However, no matter his efforts, it didn’t seem enough.
“Lied to lied on/Lay it on me/But that’s shit I knew though,” he raps along with “Tried to love you back/Spinal cord it blew out a fuse on me.”
Soon after, he uses more vivid bars to describe the strain of their once-loving relationship. Following this, he admits to giving their romance another go. Yet, still, the feeling never felt mutual.
“Back to loving you /Unconditioned and blind/You won’t admit it/But know that you wasting time,” he raps. “And think forever could last/Maybe you should have lied then.”
He questions where the love went after contemplating a near-death experience. From there, SkitzoLuvHartD applauds himself for growing what he’s gone through.
Subsequently, he urges this lady to keep it real with herself. Moreso, she shouldn’t lie about loving him when in reality, she’s proving otherwise.
He raps,
“Can’t see the truth down past mental and bondage/If fuck me/Then don’t say you love me holding me hostage/Cuts deeper than grandmas teachers/Killin my conscious/Trust/If you let me go/Blowin in the wind/Gone wit it.”
The following line happens to be the rapper’s fav as well. He describes their on-and-off pairing as love loops before declaring their time together has officially run out.
He continues,
“No disrespect but I’m focusing on a then some/Kuz all my life I’ve been crippled by what I been on and shit.”
Once the second verse comes in, the beat takes on a soul form. In this time frame, SkitzoLuvHartD tells his admirer about herself.
“U/Act like a child/Kind of mysterious /I gotta figure you out still/And I wish yo ass would grow up and show up/Or be a wo-man/Man/The shit u say/So narcissistic damn.”
The rest of “self:session” finds SkitzoLuvHartD elaborating on how she’s changed the dynamic of their relationship. If this lady wants to keep him, she must show it through actions rather than words.
“So pay me back for that time spent spending time/Since you was on a run/And we still in debt/Don’t come back less you got the funds to fund for us.”
Natalee Gilbert got an opportunity to interview SkitzoLuvHartD for New Fire Music. You can read it below:
Who is SkitzoLuvhartD?
Skitzoluvhartd is the name in itself. It’s who I am down to my flaws and dedication. I suffer from schizophrenia bipolar disorder. And I love with a hard heart. The music is every bit of that, from gritty mixes, to my heart felt songs, and lyrical pieces.
How did your music journey begin?
My family has been in the music industry for awhile. I have cousins who have been audio engineers for artist like static major, dancers in Garthfagen Dance, and just consumers of hip hop culture. I started rappin @ 5 years old but didn’t take it serious until I was 20. Basketball was my first love but size wasn’t an attribute: so I made an executive decision. I didn’t want to give up on dreamin, and no one wanted me too. Now here we are.
How does your new project differ from your previous work?
My upcoming project onCOURSE is more energetic, more bounce, and more vibe. There’s rap yea sure, but I also majorly wanted to focus on mainstream music that got the people going. Those tracks are a surprise though. I want to wow people. I think my last project ELEVEN came close to that: but was more focused on just showing I was capable of mainstream music with my sound.
How would you describe the theme in your project per say?
Confident and glamorous. Life has been picking up for me. And I’m learning to appreciate where I grow. I think this project will show my happiness: not defending who I am.
Three things you need while in the studio:
Work ethic! Lol. Ppl Do to much of showing what they’ve achieved than finishing a project correctly.
Chemistry. Bc i as an artist know what i want and how to deliver and when I can’t get the engineer on the same page, time gets wasted.
Quality technique: it doesn’t take fancy equipment to make a hit or even good music it’s all about the talent and quality of artist and engineer.
Explain your creative process:
Taylor Swift and Freestyling. I usually like to freestyle to get a unique vibe and then I put my own life experiences in words to it and I can write about anything like Taylor, so I’m always looking for something that stands out to me in this world to create something that relates to me in this world.
An artist you’d like to collaborate with?
Mavi , smino , cole lol. It’s so hard to pick, I feel like i could touch any genre. So yea that list is Long!
Any upcoming projects or singles?
OnCOURSE, my next album. Maybe a single before hand, I have a lot in the vault . Well see:
Advice for new artists:
