The Music and Melody of Avery Roberson

North Carolina native, Avery Roberson, realized his love of music and acquired his talent for entertainment from his father and grandfather. Music was all around Avery growing up, and Dad, Tony, played in a country music band called the Hutchins Brothers. They had a Top 100 hit in the late 80s. As a result, Avery picked up the guitar and started singing at an early age. It didn’t take long for him to fall in love with Country Music.

Avery got his break when NBC’s The Voice cast him in their 20th Season. He finished in the top 28, and the experience solidified his thirst for the stage. Since then, Avery has been writing, spending time in the studio, and playing at live events such as the Carolina Country Music Festival. He released his first single, “Ringtone.” which debuted on iTunes Top 100 Country Chart, followed by a second release, “Lord Have Mercy.” The song “Alive” is his most famous song yet, with over 1.5 million streams.

We love your new fire music!

Thank you!

How did you come up with the concept for the song?

I sat in my room looking for inspiration and eyed a pillow my grandmother had made. The words “Home Sweet Home” were hand stitched on the front.  The three words gave me a reason to share something personal about my life.

What is your favorite part about the song?

The first and second verses give you insight into where I grew up.

What were you most meticulous about on your latest song?

It took me a very long time to write this song.  I paused for 2-3 months after writing the first verse and chorus.  I revisited my notes after that break and felt that I could finish it and I did!

Your latest collaboration, how did this come about?

We wanted the best team to produce this song.  John Edmonds Kozma who is CEO of Bang Productions and my manager has known Mark Niemiec for several years.  Mark is one of the top engineers in Nashville, so we brought him on board to engineer and produce alongside John.  Another partner on the team was Tim Galloway, a highly sought after artist in Nashville.  He has worked with top artists like Carrie Underwood and Luke Bryan.

Who did what on the song?

John Edmonds Kozma and Mark Niemiec were the producers. I was the writer and artist, Mark was also the engineer.  We recorded “Home Sweet Home” at the historical Sound Emporium in Nashville, TN.  Tim Galloway headed up the artist team.

What was the writing process like?

I was my only critic when writing “Home Sweet Home.”

What kind of mood was set for creating magic?

I expressed how this song should be an anthem and have a sound reminiscent of an older Jason Aldean song. I wanted people to relate to their hometown.

Is there a critique you’ve gotten on the single that you worked through, and it’s made the overall work better?

No commentaries, only positive feedback.

What are you most excited about for fans to hear on your latest single?

“Home Sweet Home” is a different song style from what I usually present.  I wanted to give people insight into my background.

What has been the best feedback so far?

People have said they loved the melody.  It’s catchy and sticks with you.

Leave us with your favorite fire lyrics of the song?

“I’m talking about pine trees reaching for the sky…Crickets chirping in the middle of the night and a Small Town Friendly sign.”
