Khemistry is a prime example of an artist who, against all odds, has been able to forge a path as a woman in Hip Hop. This tenacious drive to find her own way has been the blueprint of her success so far, and one that continues to fuel her creativity.
Her brand of Hip Hop and R&B draws heavily from her real-life experiences growing up in and around Illinois. With a story-centric approach to lyric writing, her music’s strength lies in its ability to connect with lots of different people, on multiple levels.
From the up-tempo vibes of ‘Like Woah’ to deeper cuts like ‘Tables Turn’, Khemistry’s music is dynamic but anchored by her ability to convey her story with each and every release. Above all, Khemistry eschews notions of celebrity fame and rejects the glitz and glamor in favor of pushing authenticity and realness. Khemistry wants people to be empowered, challenged, and feel love through her music, and is a firm believer that music is a spiritual experience that should be embraced.
Khemistry was born in Hinsdale, IL in the USA but repping Chicago for most of her formative years, Khemistry’s time in Chicago inevitably shaped her into a stronger person – emotionally, spiritually, and physically.
While a relatively fresh face to the industry, Khemistry has been making music since the age of 7. From singing into remote controls and brushes and casual karaoke jams during her childhood to now repping the mic full time as a distinguished rapper, Khemistry’s life has been filled with music for as long as she can remember.
Her lyrical writing was birthed from her love of poetry – an artform she meticulously perfected over time, and one that seamlessly merged with music. Writing poetry was a way to help her get through the family hardship and pain that she was enduring at the time.
Music amplified her creative juices and gave her the ability to tell her story on a more profound level than ever before. Moreover, music helped her realize that feelings and emotions didn’t need to be bottled up and hidden, but instead projected into constructive dialog via rap.
Today, her goal is to use her talents to connect with as many different people as possible, while being a master of her destiny in the wider music industry. Alongside an all-star management team and Grammy-nominated producer DJ Pain 1, Khemistry’s future is shining bright.
