KARAMELIEN is a new music project from Léanie Kaleido, accomplished by UK-based singer-songwriter with three albums under her belt so far.
Reunited with longstanding guitarist buddy, Mark Foster, the two are working on Léanie’s new material with new vigour and a greater focus on lowtempo hip-hop beats and groovy bass lines.
Hailed by Amplify Music Mag as ‘one of the best singles of the year’, Karamelien‘s “Ascension Heights” samples singer-songwriter Léanie’s father Top Topham, original lead guitarist with The Yardbirds. Recorded at OX4 Sound by Mark Gardener, frontman of indie legends RIDE, the track also boasts the bass playing of Mo Pleasure, former bassist with Earth, Wind & Fire, and who has played for Michael and Janet Jackson, and Ray Charles among many others.
KARAMELIEN’s first single released recently is “Ascension Heights”. Topham founded The Yardbirds with friend and drummer Jim McCarty, but when parental pressure forced him to leave just as they were on the verge of commercial success, college acquaintance Eric Clapton took over the reins, later succeeded by Jeff Back and then Jimmy Page.
Top re-joined The Yardbirds for part of their 50th anniversary tour, but has latterly retired from music due to ill health. “Ascension Heights” was produced by Mark Gardener, frontman with indie legends RIDE, at his studio in Oxfordshire, OX4 Sound. Gardener also produced Léanie’s third album, ‘How To Weigh a Whale Without a Scale’.
Karamelien works around Indie pop Authentic, Chill, Downbeat, Groovy, Indie, Meaningful lyrics, Melodic, Dreamy, Available on Spotify, & Composer.
