Sam Brown & LONG NGHTS – “Crucify”

Sam Brown and LONG NGHTS detail the pros and cons of working around the clock in “Crucify.” Pleading with loved ones to remain patient with their progression, Sam Brown even sings, “I been working hard to make ends meet lately/But that don’t mean you gotta go and judge me/You don’t know how it feels, to be put up right in your feels.” The brooding R&B trap beat gives Sam Brown and LONG NGHTS room to express how someone’s changed behavior has affected them.

Nudging their close person to communicate their wants/needs, the musicians continue giving this person a much-needed eye-opener.

You been wearing all the wrong clothes/(Wrong clothes)/You been doing voodoo but that’s just the see through/Because you know I get through to you (Through to you)/Then we can do what the demons (ay)/Yeah its just me and you /You know that I can get through to you,” he sings.

In the second verse, LONG NGHTS revisits the beginning of his career. LONG NGHTS was unsure about where his talents would take him. Now, he’s taking off! First, the musician expresses his disappointment with someone who switched up on him. Afterward, the artist puts effort into righting his wrongs with a gal who “got a love that makes a man want to stop.”

All we had was 808s/Shit was like my saving grace/Back when I aint know if I would make it,” he spits in an auto-tune cadence. “I was hoping I could save the day/You switched up in a major way/I got it, and now you just want to take it.”

Additionally, he raps, “But you been testing me, baby,/Got me down on my knees/, Yeah you been testing me baby/Spend another night with me.”

“Crucify” follows his previous record’s release, “Thousand Ways (feat. Nannos).”
