J Dog & Emmitt James are in their prime, and it certainly shows in their new song, “Rose Valley III.”
Over the boom-bap meets lofi beat, created by J Dog, the lyrical master speaks about working against the clock. Not only does he want fortune, but he also wants to share it with their loved ones. Throughout the record, James orchestrates seamless flows and complex rhymes.
“They call me king and I ain’t lying/Hm/Plus it runs in my family/Why you think my nephew’s name is Titus/I did this for our legacy/I ain’t here to cause a scene/But I’ll be damned if my fam lack anything they need,” James spits.
The next passage showcases his compassion, especially towards those he cares for. The rapper unveils that this road to riches has taken them on a beautiful journey. The artist has been putting in work, refusing to be complacent. He trusts in Him and his resilience. As a result, an empire will be built in no time.
Two notable lines go:
“As long as me and God in sync ain’t worried bout a placement/Got rid of that day shift/Now all I do is shapeshift,” and “That’s why I live my life like I got a head full of aces/It I ain’t got the means to get it I’ll just make it.”
Further into “Rose Valley III,” he declares that he’s living life to the fullest. But he also warns the opps to mind the business that pays them. He’s only focused on gaining profit.
As the song continues, he pays respects to their grandmother. James pushes himself daily with her in mind. The musician knows his grandma would want him to keep reaching for the stars. And so, he aims to fly straight to the moon. There’ll be no shut-eye on his end until the dream becomes a reality.
