DZH – “RELYING ON ME”

DZH

DZH brings light to the challenging times he once faced in his new single, “RELYING ON ME.” From a lyrical standpoint, the New Jersey-based rapper confronts those who weren’t with him “in all those Decembers.” In addition, he acknowledges the individuals who lent a hand in his time of need. The high energetic instrumental is influenced by aggressive hip-hop and trap arrangements. He pairs a bouncy cadence with reflective lyrics.

In the first verse, the rapper thinks back to his childhood. DZH and his family’s faith got them out of a difficult chapter in their lives. But, regardless of the circumstances, they had a large sum of love and knowledge that got them ahead.

“Heat out the oven for winters/Mama raised what she was taught/She birthed the mind of a winner,” he spits.

He also raps, “We was way down bad/Whip the Stratus straight to church/Meet up grandma and cousins/Funny how He had a plan/His scripture wasn’t for nothing, yuh.”

As the song continues, DZH talks about moving to a new residential community. Then, deeper into the verse, he unveils that his peers often misunderstood his intellect. Individuals were quick to doubt his greatness. Yet, once DZH proved them wrong, they wanted to flip the script.

He raps,

“Niggas saying I’m talking too white/I say it’s pure education/I understand both sides/Now, they claim I’m violating/I got accepted in Scranton (Tuh)/Prolly just to fit a quota/I played the hand I was dealt (Yaya)/I need no face when it’s poker.”
