Modern Amusement is an alternative rock project based in Minneapolis, Minnesota formed by Sam Black. Inspired by such alt-rock gods as Weezer, Panic! At The Disco and Fall Out Boy, Modern Amusement strives to deliver the hooky and heavy power pop with nerdy but earnest lyrics for the outcast in all of us.

What makes this song FIRE?

I like to think it’s because it’s just laying out honest thoughts to a song. I’ve been able to meet a lot of people through the song that have said they related to it, either by being enamored by Lisa Loeb herself or some other famous person they’ve never met. It’s great to share a connection with people with your music.

What project has set a FIRE to you to get done NOW? 

Currently I’m finishing up and getting ready to release our second full-length album. It’s a project I’m really excited to share with the world, I can’t wait to drop it later this year!

Whose new beats that you can’t get enough of?  

My fellow indie artist and friend Scoopski is releasing some really excellent tunes right now for his upcoming album ‘See You Soon’, if you like our kind of music you should definitely check them out too! Also there will be a song on the album called ‘Riding The Wave’ that’s featuring me!

What mantra do you want to repeat in this new year?

I think it would just be “keep going”! I set up a lot of stuff last year which was my first full year going all-in as a musician and I want to make sure I stay just as motivated this year and keep working hard!

New Year, New You, New Music! What else NEW is coming? 

Beyond the new album we’ve got lots of other fun stuff coming this year, new videos, new installments of our webcomic ‘Life Of Marco’, and lots of upcoming live shows to announce! Can’t wait!

How are you making BIG SOUND with your next sounds? 

With these upcoming new songs I’ve been able to collaborate with some other great musicians to make the songs sound bigger than they’ve sounded before, I hope you’ll look forward to hearing them!

How are you shaking up your career NEXT?! 

I’ve already begun writing for our third album, this one should be pretty different sound-wise. You’ll just have to tune in later to find that out though!
