Today on New Fire Music, we’ll be speaking about chase. and his newest album, Here Without You. To find out more about this musician, click here.
Circling back to the project, Here Without You serves listeners with emotionally vulnerable ballads and relatable commentary about break-ups, losses, fake individuals, and so much more. At the same time, he brings awareness to things like “situationships,” toxic relationships, etc. The themes at hand, ultimately, explore a familiar territory of taking the good with the bad.
chase. remains like an open book through it all, expressing how specific scenarios have affected him mentally and emotionally. Take, for instance, the first song off the album. In “Hopeless Romantic,” part of the chorus goes, “I’m stuck in this generation where love isn’t love anymore.” He also drops this line, “I don’t fear anything/But darkness I adore and sorrows what I yearn for.”
The instrumentals in Here Without You take admiration from lo-fi and R&B. Each song also showcases Chase’s versatile side as he crosses between a smooth, warm auto-croon and passionate rhymes. Three tracks that really stand out are “Fast,” “You Wanna Be Loved,” and “I Wish I Said Goodbye.” This project is great to listen to in times of reflection or a late-night stroll.
Here Without You follows the momentum of his collaborative tape with New Jersey’s very own, Marsalis Davis titled CHASEXMARTY VOL. 1.
