JOZ;P Is Here To Teach You The Ways Of “THE GAME”

As part of his moniker implies, there’s never one answer to a question.

JOZ;Pgenerally known as JP, is a multi-faceted musician who gives listeners a broader perspective of the world through his rhymes. Although JOZ;P hasn’t been creating music for long, his involvement in the hip-hop scene dates back to his younger years.

At three years old, JOZ;P’s parents enlisted him into piano lessons. By the time he reached 14, JOZ;P decided to put his piano classes on pause due to other responsibilities. Fast forward to 4 years later, and JOZ;P immersed himself into the art of rhyming,

“I just love how artists can carry a beat with their words, and it still attracts someone,” he adds.

Following this, the artist went to college, but he chose to leave as time passed because it wasn’t for him. JOZ;P then began monitoring music, that is, until the pandemic hit. Once the tri-state artist was ordered to self-quarantine, JOZ;P chose to do music full time.

In his eyes, he’s a black man in America trying to do what he can to stay sane, and music does just that.

His name, JOZ;P is a blend of his initials, heritage, and a semicolon that signifies duality. Ironically, his initials are the same as his mother’s and father’s who decided to give their children the same abbreviation. Outside of JOZ;P’s artistry, he calls the shots at OZ STUDIOS L.L.C.

Before JOZ;P hops into the studio, he’ll brainstorm and write whatever comes to mind. It helps to get the creative juices flowing.

“My sound is laid-back and informative. Whenever I learn something, I try putting it in my tracks. My music is meant to open your mind,” he continues.

On Halloween, JOZ;P released his first-ever single called “THE GAME,” which explores the downfalls of chasing notoriety. In other words, be wary because some individuals will be quick to “sell you out for the clout and fame.

Over a menacing yet playful trap beat that carries piano loops, hi-hats, and kick-snares, JOZ;P lays out bars about his independence, lavish lifestyle, getting to the bag, and having a clear focus on what he wants.

Elsewhere, the MC calls out the one’s chasing fame and fortune. He delivers lines like “Only things I might not show for is a label and a hoe,” along with “You that cat trading followers for your flip.”

JOZ;P’s favorite one-liner goes, “My fallback game stronger than Nutso/They be like he’s so nuts. kinda schizo.” Nutso just so happens to be a character from one of his favorite movies, Above The Rim. Cadence-wise, JOZ;P crossovers between a singsong and bouncy flow.

“If I feel like I’m unwanted or energy isn’t aligning with whatever, I fall back,” he says about this short passage.

In the future, expect JOZ;P to drop more singles and a visual for “THE GAME.”

His advice for upcoming artists who are looking to create their first single is: “Don’t rush the process. Trust yourself. Learn yourself. Have fun.”
